D. Someone who wanted to bomb Mecca and Medina (Tancredo)
E. An actor who really didn't want to become President, but knows how to give a convention speech.

What on earth? Do you think any of those guys stood a chance in the general election?
Face it, this IS the year of the Democrat, they're rabid, after not having the White House for 8 whole years, and this is all the Republicans came up with? Of course you pick McCain! Who else makes sense?
Just count yourself lucky he (McCain) picked Palin as a VP nominee, that's as close to true Conservative as you get.
Personally, if Obama chose Hillary, I'm convinced McCain would've picked Huckabee as a VP pick, he's the antidote,for various reasons, but that didn't happen, so McCain beat him to a historical pick instead.

That is a pretty good summation of it. What makes anyone think that a hardcore conservative would have been a better choice to win the general election? No way in my opinion. I think a hardcore conservative would have been trounced by the democrats when a moderate is even having a hard time this time around. Sure the republican base would have been all giddy about it, but I got news for everyone. The base is NOT enough to win the general election. You've got to appeal to the independents which I don't think a hardliner would have had a prayer with this time around. Get used to it fellas. Hardcore conservatives winning a national election is a thing of the past!
