The All Ordinaries index in Sydney, Australia, was down nearly 5 percent in late afternoon trading.

In Seoul, the KOSPI fell 6.4 percent. The Taipei Weighted declined 5.8 percent, and Hong Kong"™s Hang Seng index plunged more than 5.6 percent, even as the Hong Kong Monetary Authority announced it would lower interest rates a full percentage point starting Thursday.

I sold high and now I am poised to buy low. This is what I expected and planned for several years ago. There is always an opportunity to make money. Little hint, do EXACTLY OPPOSITE of what the majority of the people are doing.

As I have said, I got out of stocks when they were the hottest thing going. My friends laughed at me. I bought gold and silver when NO ONE wanted them and they were at rock bottom prices. My friends laughed at me.

When stocks have been beaten down and no one has faith in them and they are at rock bottom prices, I'll buy them and my friends will laugh at me. Hindsight is always 20/20. It takes guts to go against the flow, but to the logical mind it is the only thing that makes sense.

cascadedadactually my wife and I are talking about some stock investments in the near future. The markets are going to get hammered in the next few weeks though, I'd not be surprised to see the Dow to 8500 or even lower

I bet it drops 400+ points today

Weird isn't it ...... 700 Billion approved gets you a 12% in DOW drops .... I thought that 700 Billion was going to stabilize things ??

IMO: If the DOW loses over 400 points today it will go into free fall mode. This nutcase is the eternal optomist: Subdued, my @$$.

U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, meanwhile, warned on Tuesday that turmoil in markets could cause U.S. economic activity to be subdued into 2009 and signaled a readiness to cut interest rates.

I don't know anything about this guy, other than the fact that he inherited a huge mess that Clinton/Greenspan created.

It is much more than any mess that Greenspan/Clinton created. The stock market has been drastically over-valued for several years.Bernanke has been nursing the market along by lowering interest rates. If he had let the market do a couple of badly needed corrections we would not have this problem today.

Investors have become scared and are selling (market drops). They have their money and greed caused the crash and will provide the fuel for the recovery. They are sitting hoping to buy in at the low and watch the money grow with the market rebound. It is only a matter of time before they get back in. Their greed will start the bull market again just like it always does. Money can't be made in the markets unless there are loses. The history is that it grows over time which is why it makes a good investment.

I thought they boosted it up to 850 after it failed the first time. Not that it makes anything better...
