I didn't watch yet. I will catch the highlights later tonight. I honestly can't hack Obama for an hour or whatever time the debate takes. I sincerely dislike the dud. He was the least qualified of the Dems that started the race IMO. I disliked billary even more but she was probably more qualified.
Like most debates, it was not a game-changer by either candidate. It was such a dull debate that asked the same questions we've heard over and over and over that basically each candidate was able to just repeat their talking points and rhetoric. Obama didn't do anything to cause a huge shift in his direction, IMO, but he didn't need to. McCain didn't either. Whether or not he needed to remains to be seen. We should know in the next few days whether the polls are going to tighten up again or not.

I was disappointed with the format. I expected a true town hall debate where the average citizen could ask a question. Instead the questions were all hand selected prior and pretty much were the same questions that have already been answered. I admit I am biased as a McCain supporter. I think McCain did better on the economy and domestic/foreign policy but that Obama did better on health care. I say McCain won by a hair but that it won't change anything with regards to the polls.
I didnt really see a winner. I did see a big loser however..that would be the American people. How in the hell in a country with this many people could we be scraping the bottom of the barrel this bad for candidates? [&o]
"And so while it's true that nobody's completely innocent here, we have had over the last eight years the biggest increases in deficit spending and national debt in our history. And Sen. McCain voted for four out of five of those George Bush budgets."
I think McCain won slightly due mainly to this (McCain brought it up a few times which was good), but again, voters are gullible so they probably fell for it.
The Dem's and liberals of the world. We have two Demacrats running this year. It's unfortunate we couldn't get a conservative.[:@]
You need to decide with a 3.2++ trillion dollar spending spree by Washington, do we really need more spending?
FYI FD3 congress is the one who spends the money not the president.

I didn't watch the whole debate, only the later parts. I too find it difficult to stomach much of Obama. WhatI saw did not suggest any strong gain for McCain. I understand McCain pitched a new homeowner bailout of the blue. I don't know the particulars, but I have to admit I'm not thrilled about that. Why is some guy's personal financial mistakes got to be my burden? Why do I have to bail him out? Screw that. I understand the issues with the big investment houses -- economy depends on them not going down and pulling the rest of the economy down with them. I don't see how individual mortgage holders need to be bailed out. What's the worst case? Mr Green goes bankrupt, loses his home, rents an apartment somewhere else, moves forwards with his life; Mr Brown buy's Mr Green's former residence at a market adjusted downwards price, pays his mortgage reliably, moves forwards with his life. What is the need of a bailout? People don't seem to realize that bankruptcy is not a death penalty. It means you may lose some of your material toys and you will have limited access to borrowed money. Since you went bankrupt . . . THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD THING CAUSE YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO MANAGER DEBT!!!!
