Default Bailout vote fails....

I have to say its somewhat refreshing to see congress finally vote the will of the people. No lesson will ever be learned if there are no consequences..... Thats my opinion..Im sure its not really popular so flame away...lol. The entire country could use a lesson in financial responsibility. This bailout to me just gave those responsible a free pass.

I'm listening to a Republican congresswoman on the radio now. She said she voted no for two reasons: there is not enough protection for the taxpayer to ensure that"we" actually get the money back and there is not enough protection built in to keep it from happening again.

The thing I keep thinking is that it really isnt enough to do any good. Have you guys heard just how much debt is actually there in this sector? I have heard numbers as high as 7 trillion. So if thats the case..if they pass this one and it doesnt work....then what? Theres not a snowballs chance in heck of pushing another through..lol. The Fannie/Freddie bailout was supposed to have been the end.

The gov't in all its egotistical arrogance isnt near big enough to stop this snowball...

Hey, Doe dumper, this is nothing compared to the debt SS and Meicare that looms not too far off. Perhaps we'll finally see spending cuts. I doubt it but it's nice to wish.

But it looks like they must have got some helpthe dems. They holdmore seats than the republicans do, so I guess they did not all line up behind Pelosi.

No they didn't need any republicans to vote for it. The dems hold a solid majority. Looks like Pelosi fails again.

Got these vote totals from Fox:

Of 235 Democrats, 141 supported the legislation. Of 199 Republicans, 132 opposed it.
