Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The McCain vs. Obama performance

I just watched a re-run of the debate, (for those of you who don't know, I am currently staying in Europe until November 2nd on a missionary trip, so I couldn't watch the debate live because of the time difference.), and I thought towards the beginning, with the economic crisis issue, there was nothing impressive going on, just re-run of soundbites, I liked what John McCain said about spending, but that's not going to win him the election. Both were in a draw, with Obama getting more favorability from undecided voters, I imagine.

However, after the debate on Iraq and Afghanistan (which was really just a showing of two different opinions that couldn't be damaged in a mere 12 minutes), when they were asking about Iran, I think Obama's stance on meeting with Ahmedinejad and North Korea really came back to haunt him there.

Honestly, when McCain started to say, "So let me get this straight, you're going to sit down with a guy who's saying 'we are going to blow Israel off the map, and you're just going to look into his eyes and say, 'No, you're not?'", that was when McCain started to totally run off with it, following it up with the brilliant comment, "When I looked into Vladimir Putin's eyes, I saw three letters, a K a G, and a B!", I was laughing when I heard that, butI think that it did him more good then just comics, it does a severely good job of drawinga difference of opinion with George W. Bush.

Obama wasn't insecure in this debate on foreign policy, and that's exactly what he set out to do, but what I think the last third of the debate shows, is thatwhat Obama may not lack in security of his views on foreign policy, he lacked in credibility, and helooked naive. I think that's going to slap him in the face when it comes to 30% of the vote on electionday, ifnot more. Sounds harsh, yes,but I really think no one can underestimate the importance oftrustability. If theAmericanpeoplecan't come around to trust Obama before election day, there's not going to be many swing voters who will vote for him, even if they agree with him, and not John McCain.
Good Luck!

Josiah

IMHO I thought McCain was clearly better in the foreign policy debate, many years of hands on experience. Hussein thought Georgia was where the Braves play.

I guess all partisans can say their guy won. I saw it as a draw. No knockout on either side. As it was supposed to be McCain's field of expertise, a draw comes out as a net gain for Obama.

The one thing I kept waiting for Obama to say, all night long, was something about how he knew McCain was really good at 'mis-characterizing' his (Obama's) views in TV ads and on the stump, but didn't think he had to gall to do it while in the same room with him. The pundits have been agonizing all morning about how McCain never once looked at Obama the whole debate but it was obvious to me. It's pretty hard to look a man in the eye and lie about him at the same time. It showed me McCain still has a conscience, anyway.

I'm kinda wondering what kind of shift we'll see in the polls Monday morning.

Not, quite authur. I seen it totally differently. I know when arguring with people in boardrooms or meetings, the ones I have little respect for or ones that I consider to be inferior to me or just plain do not know what they are talking about, I myself will not give them the time of day to look at them. I will quickly talk to people in the room that deserves my attention and move on.

But your a cheerleader to the end no doubt. You will spin it to suit your desires. I have yet to see outright lies about bama on TV or anywhere. Both their tax plans has downsides.

For instance, we discuss gun control and bama's and madmac's stance on gun control. I see you quickly dodge any arguement that discusses if bama supports right to carry, or the assult weapons ban. You spin, basically lie, to support this man. When I know both have thier warts on the issue.

It's not like a lead is going to evaporate 10 seconds, good grief, if anything, Obama might not even lose the Gallup Poll, it's the final poll that really matters, but even still, it's Obama's election to lose.

We've been jabbering on the forums for a bunch of years now, BC, and I've always respected your opinion. I guess I've been wrong to think you felt the same. I've ever called you a liar like you've now done to me. This crap hole politics forum isn't worth losing friends over. It's all yours.

I appoligize Arthur. Went out and been worrking on the yard all day and thought about it. And regret what I said. I still like you and respect you. And sorry I brought out the fighting words. It was a knee jerk reaction. My bad.
