Before you dismiss the fact that Sarah Palin is Commander of the Alaska National Guard consider this.Alaska is the first line of defense in our missile interceptor defense system. The 49th Missile Defense Battalion of the Alaska National Guard is the unit that protects the entire nation from ballistic missile attacks. It's on permanent active duty, unlike other Guard units. As governor of Alaska , Palin is briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism . Her exposure to classified material may rival even Biden's and certainly by far exceeds Obama's.She's also the commander in chief of the Alaska State Defense Force (ASDF), a federally recognized militia incorporated into Homeland Security's counter terrorism plans.Palin is privy to military and intelligence secrets that are vital to the entire country's defense. Given Alaska 's proximity toRussia , she may have security clearances we don't even know about.According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out. This is a woman used to keeping secrets. She can be entrusted with our national security, because she already is

So what? Obama once used a tennis ball machine, which can be wielded as a weapon! Doesn't that make him as qualified to be president as her experiencemakes her to be vp?
OK, so I will give you that she might be a bit more qualified than Obama, but is she qualified enough? I don't think Obama is nor do I think she is. I expect a good bit more from someone who wants to be president or vice-president to be perfectly honest. If McCain is elected he could kick the bucket any day. From what I have seen and read about her I have very little confidence that she would be the best choice to take over the presidency.

McCain isnt goin to kick the bucket any day!! His mom is still alive for goodness sakes! and she seems pretty youthful too...
Now I dont think anyone would argue that McCain has the experience to run the military....

Some time back, i raised the issue of whether or not being Governor of Alaska might provide someone with extra experience in terms of military and foreign policy given Alaska's proximity to Russia, as well as its enormous shared border with Canada. Not many folks seem to take the question seriously or put much thought into it. Folks on the left have even laughed at Palin's statment that she leads a state from where you can see Russia. I think it would behoove her to provide some details on some of these issues. Gonna be hard for Biden to attack her lack of foreign policy in the debates if she starts talking aobut being involved in high level meetings with Russian officials.

So what if his mother is still alive? Women generally live longer and she surely didn't have to endure what he had to in her life and I'm sure she didn't have cancer in her 60's like her son had. No one knows for sure how long he will live, but a guy in his 70's is a greater risk than a guy in his 40's or 50's. Just try getting life insurance passed the age of 60 even if you are in good health. You will generally be paying through your nose for it and it won't be much of a payout upon death.

Couric asked her a question about what kind of meetings she had with the Russians. She surely didn't give her much of answer. If she in fact did have meetings with them why would she not explain something about them? I have a hunch there really haven't been any that is why she is not giving any answers.
