Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Obama's sex ed bill wasn't just "no-touchy"

Bryon York debunks the Obama campaign idea that the bill to teach sex to kindergarteners was just to tell them to avoid innapropriate touching, it was also to teach them more comprehensive aspects, basically, teaching kindergarteners sex.

There's 4 pages of the article, it gets better by the minute. John McCain was right:

I used to take the National Review. It's real good for bird cage liners.

Thanks Younggun, I will have to google the bill and see if I can't see the whole thing. I agree they left a lot open on that bill and I don't like that planned parenthood was involved in this bill.

interesting article, filled with supposition and extrapolation. moreover, its entire premise seems to rest on the intent of one individual who was involved, with many, in the formulation of the bill.

younggun, you quite appropriately went to fact check to debunk the assertion that Palin cut funding for special needs children. you might wanna do the same on this one.

Alright, here you go:

http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/off_base_on_sex_ed.html

It's from before the National Review article was posted.

It basically says that the bill's purposes were:

[ul][*]To be medically accurate[*]To teach kids about STD's, namely HIV[*]And, of course, to teach them about sexual harrassment[/ul]
However, FactCheck.org doesn't address whether or not Planned Parenthood was behind the bill or not, it's not even close to being mentioned,so the reporter must've been right, since he interviewed co-sponsors of the bill, and Mr. Martinez told York that Planned Parenthood made the recommendations, and had input into it.

Here is a link to the bill you can see it for yourself. I am not excited how it read and thought they had to drop all of the text to Kindergarten until I got to the bottom where it said that drug and alcohol abuse will not be taught until 5th grade. Why did they have to put comprehensive sex education for K's on there?

Also I was not thrilled about them crossing out teaching alternativesto abortion.

Did McCain reach yes, did he lie no. That bill gives teachers permission to teach comprehensive sex to Kinergarteners. Who decides what is age, and developmentally appropiate?

McCain didn't make a 'reach' on this, especially with the attempt to connect it to Obama. The only connection I can find to Obama with the whole thing is that Obama was chair of the Health and Human Services committee where it was discussed. He is not listed as a sponsor or author of the bill. Seems to me the whole thing is only another blatant lie by the McCain campaign. It's immaterial anyway because the bill died without ever coming to a vote.

They were saying on the news last night that this is already the most fact-checked presidential campaign in history, and that's a good thing. Maybe it'll put an end to this kind of garbage campaigning.

Perhaps it had something to do with him annoucing his support for the bill on national tv?
