This is probably the most useless, absurd campaign I've seen in a while. We have 2 presidential candidates who are talking about reform and change, and both of them are playing political games that are beneath even those played by most of their predecessors. And we all know that Washington and dirty political games go together like hand and glove.
If we're really wanting to put country first, as John McCain says, or effectively bring about change that we can believe in, as Barack Obama says, why don't we start focusing on issues that affect Americans, instead of the petty, stupid stuff that these men are focusing on?
I have completely soured on McCain's negative campaign. He had the fascination of America when he selected Sarah Palin as his runningmate, and he appears to be squandering it, as I said he would. Because instead of using the opportunity while he had the nation's undivided attention to talk about what he wanted to do for America, all he could do is continue his mantra about Obama's inexperience, etc.
And now we have Obama making a big issue of McCain's 13 cars. Folks are losing their jobs, some parts of the Southeast are literally out of gas, and experts say we were 500 share sales away from a complete market collapse last week, and Obama's talking about how many cars McCain has? Unfreakinbelieveable.
Neither of these men deserve to be president as far as I'm concerned.

honestly, when was the last election of any sort where the candidates deserved to be president.. i mean seriously, 99% of all political people in DC deserve to be working at a local mcdonalds for all of the lies they spew out.

Honestly? 1984.

Ronald Reagan? The only president to heada Union? so ironic, isnt it... before 84 it was prolly... JFK that really deserved it... but what the hell do i know, i wasnt even alive when reagan was president... just going off the books and shiite ive read
Sure. I think Reagan was an excellent leader. But when I say '84, I'm talking about an election when both candidates ran honorable campaigns that focused solely on what was right for America. Mondale swayed from that a little towards the end when he tried to make Reagan's age an issue, but for the most part, both candidates ran solid campaigns.
In '88, I think Bush ran a fairly decent campaign, but Dukakis was a joke. In '92 both Bush and Clinton ran pretty fair campaigns but it's hard for me to credit Clinton with much (although there was quite a bit of good that came from his presidency) because of the moral disgrace he brought to the office. It has pretty much been downhill from there, though.

Hey Gris, while I can agree with you on some points, I did see a study released last week looking into the negative campaigning and Obama was way up something like 78% to 56%.
Hey here is a link to the study. I screwed up the Obama number. He wasn't that high. He only ran 77% negative ads.

It does seem that pretty much all of these national level politicians are more concerned about personal wealth and power than our country. That's on BOTH sides of the aisle. Maybe it's time to revisit term limits.

I know quite a few people who have 13 cars. Most of 'em have to mow the grass in the front yard to find some of those cars...
How come you're blaming the Obama campaign for an article that Newsweek wrote? I thought it was kind of funny, actually. Now McCain knows how many cars he owns and can't be blindsided by another reporter like he was over how many houses he owns.
I'm blaming the Obama campaign because they seized on it as propoganda as soon as Newsweek reported the story. They had a teleconference with reporters to blast McCain for being out of touch with common Americans because he owns 13 cars.
Your candidate must really be weak if you have to resort to McCain supposedly not knowing how many houses he owned and trying to dig up dirt on Sarah Palin. There are scores of real issues here. In my original post, I pointed out that both candidates are guilty of this silliness. How ironic is it that the 1st person who tries to excuse that sort of behavior is an Obama supporter? Given the way this campaign has gone, I don't know that I'm necessarily surprised.
