I like these panoramic posts, I doubt they do the world any good, but hey, it felt good at the time, just was saying in some way, how boring politics have been the past two days, after the Palin interview with Hannity.

but quite perceptive.
In a era where partisanship rules supreme, both national parties have made the acquisition of power their primary objective, and forgotten that the purpose behind the acquisition of that power is to serve the people.
(and someone on this board will say to themselves "well, yeah, but the
OTHER party is worse than mine." let me assure you than you are sadly mistaken.)
the media furthers the controversy. conflict overinane issues like palin's tanning bed or obama's half brother in africa are easier to talk about, and much more salacious, than discussions of weighty economic policy. the concept of a red team v. a blue team also heightens the drama, and makes the tales of the day easier to condense into a 30 minute newscast.
I swear to god, ESPN should start covering politics, at least they'd do a better job of it.
then along comes an honest to god, once-in-a-lifetime, perfect storm of an economic nightmare. the sons of bitches suddenly remember why we elected them, and they do their jobs. poof. no soundbites, no posturing, but they implement the biggestphilosophic shift in our economyto occur in two generations, in
less than one blessedweek. words fail me.
but it's boring, and very few even pay attention. the members of this board notwithstanding, the vast majority of the american public won't be able to tell you the details of these events in two weeks time, but they will be able to tell you about tanning beds and lipstick on pigs.
we are a fallen species.
