That ad is just the latest in a series of shameful tactics of the McCain campaign. They're playing directly into the hands of the Democrats with the games they're playing. It's time to stop the underhanded mudslinging and start telling the American people what you're going to do for them. McCain had the voters in the palm of his hand after the Palin selection. If he isn't careful, that will be an opportunity squandered. At this point, I'm nearly convinced that the main thing driving McCain to a share of the lead is the weakness of Obama's candidacy. But if McCain is going to win, his campaign is going to have to grow some legs of its own at some point. I disagree with several fundamental parts of Obama's bill, but what's the point in trying to distort his record?
With that said, I'm glad the New York Times has taken it upon itself to show us when the record is being distorted. Now I eagerly await an article examining the things said by the Obama campaign. But I won't hold my breath. Of Larry Rothman's "check point" series in the Times, a single article has yet to be critical of Obama. I know this surprises everyone.
