Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Fed=85 Billion "Bridge Loan" to AIG

The fed just loaned 85 billion to AIG and took an 80 percentstake in the company. Pretty soon the fed will have some real money tied up in these buy outs.

Failure forces discipline in the industry. The fed can't bail everything out!

The ripple effects of AIG going under would have been huge world wide, enough perhaps to devastate the markets.I don't like government participation in the saving of business's in the private sector.I think in this instance it was the right thing to.
There definitely needs to be some serious sensibility brought back to the way the financial industries operate their companies!!

I pity anyone having credit card debt. These boyos are going to be coming hard at it. I have watched these young couples buying like no tommorow is coming and now losing all. I do not beleive people know how to say 'no'. Everyone got so greedy they forgot common sense.I know this much, I can never retire as the cost of living keeps climbing, USA, fed, state and localis accumulating debt fatser than I can pay it off. Not much left for me and my family, if they keep going I will be looking to them for my paycheck or maybe that is the idea?

No worries. McCain will appoint a commission to study the problem. They'll figure out what to do about it in a couple of years.[&:]

Wearing your Jackass glassess and posting the usual drivel I see . Republicans have nothing on Democrats when it comes to useless studies and commissions.

LOL! Is that the best you can come up with, oldelkhunter?

You don't want me to go into how this carries much of the same stench as McCain's Keating 5 days? How his bosom buddy and economic advisor, the guy everyone figures to be McCain's pick for Secretary of the Treasury, Phil Gramm, is the one who set the stage for all this? He took advantage of the confusion around the election in '99, while everyone's attention was on SCOTUS as they were farting around with deciding who our next President would be, and slipped through a financial deregulatory bill that gutted the Depression era safeguards that were designed to prevent precisely this kind of disaster.

This mess has McCain's fingerprints all over it. Now the Great Deregulator is calling for more regulation and transparency? Oh, but only after his handpicked blue ribbon commission has had a chance to study it. What a load of manure!
