Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

That does not sound right. Maybe y'all want to exercise some skepticism about this. I would assume that Britain, as in the US, has a hierarchy of judicial authority and a court assuming authority is not a matter of mystery of doubt, it is explicit in black letters somewhere. That did not emerge from the article.

I saw that and think it is a mistake.

I know what they're doing, they're trying to give "proper" representation to their minorities, but it's totally the wrong way to go, for the long term, especially, it'll backfire.

If you read the London Times article, they suggest that it operates as an alternative dispute resolution system. We have that here too. But ADR is used here in contracts, not domestic law.

There is also a question in my mind if women who "agree" to have a family dispute judged by a Sharia court are acting of their own free will. This kind of smells.

This could get really scary, especially for non-muslims in GB and other European countries. I hope it doesn't happen here. Allowing sharia courts to be set up opens the door for many things "we in the west" got over in the Middle Ages. This will be heralded by muslim communities all over Europe as the first step of "their" re-taking of Europe. The next step to watch for is the imposing of a "jizya" on non-muslims living in majority muslim neighborhoods.

Many outspoken imams in Europe decry the abuse muslims suffer because they're a minority. Look up the terms "dhimmi" and "dhimmitude", and see how these muslims get along with non-muslims when the situations are reversed.

if you look closely, unless it is a serious crime Amish are judged by their own. Very few see the courtroom.

Actually, a Sharia court may not be so bad considering that the English courts are now jailing some folks whouse force to defend themselves against intruders in their homes.
