My apologies if this has already been posted. This is the message from an Iraqi veteran that some on the left are claiming (erroniously, it would appear) that McCain paid for. It is a message to Barack Obama. Make sure you watch the entire thing. From what I hear in talking to vets, this sums up the feelings of most of them.
I'm sure that is a heartfelt, honest message from the person who said it.
But,
I've talked to many vets from many branches who can't wait to pull that big "D"lever and vote a straight democrat ticket as payment for the betrayl they feel they've been dealt by the republicans.
But since it's on youtube, it must represent all the troops I guess.

RE: A powerful message
Well fodder, I have many family member who are still in Iraq and do not like Bush, but guess whose lever is going to be pulled this Nov.? It dont have a D. on it. The game goes both ways. To add to that, I saw a poll from the local Air Force Bases, and guess who is winning that poll, by a large margine????? Its not Obama. But im sure you will say its because all us Texans are ignorant so it doesnt count.

I'm not going to dispute what you're saying, but I've talked to a BUNCH of soldiers returning from Iraq, as part of my job. I ask everyone of them the same question: Was this war justified, and do you think we should come home now? Most of the time I don't get to those questions before they state their disdain with the politicians and news media that is painting the negative picture of Iraq and calling for an immediate withdrawal. Out of all of them, I've had a handful who felt the war wasn't justified. But they said now that we're there, we need to stay until the job is finished. I've talked to one -- just one -- who felt we should withdraw before Iraq is secure.

we need to stay until the job is finished
Can you fill me in on what exactly the job is at this point? I forgot. Err.. I thought it had something to do with WMD's and ousting a brutal dictator that posed an imminent direct threat to American soil. Did something change? Oh right.. all I have to do is look at the Product for a New American Century documents (PNAC) penned by Wolfowitz, Cheney and Rumsfeld. It will remind me of the mission.
In 1992, then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney had a strategy report drafted for the Department of Defense, written by Paul Wolfowitz, then Under-Secretary of Defense for Policy. In it, the U.S. government was urged, as the world's sole remaining Superpower, to move aggressively and militarily around the globe. The report called for pre-emptive attacks and ad hoc coalitions, but said that the U.S. should be ready to act alone when "collective action cannot be orchestrated." The central strategy was to "establish and protect a new order" that accounts "sufficiently for the interests of the advanced industrial nations to discourage them from challenging our leadership," while at the same time maintaining a military dominance capable of "deterring potential competitors from even aspiring to a larger regional or global role." Wolfowitz outlined plans for military intervention in Iraq as an action necessary to assure "access to vital raw material, primarily Persian Gulf oil" and to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and threats from terrorism.
"Thus, facing up to the realities of multiple constabulary missions will require a permanent allocation of U.S. armed forces." - pg 10
"Further, the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event like a new Pearl Harbor." - pg 51
That .. is a powerful message.
