It was just a slip of the tongue. He's not a Muslim. If you have to talk as much as a politician does, you're going to slip up now and then. They all do it. We do it too. But it's only a big deal if you're a famous person like a politician.
I think Obama would be a horrible president. I don't understand why he would continue going to that church with the America hating preacher. But Obama is not a Muslim.

If you don't know how one becomes a Christian, no matter what previous faith that person might have had - if any - then you need to whip out your Bible and commence to reading the New Testament. I've seen a whole lot of un-Christian comments about Obama from MOST of you, and accusing a fellow Christian of being a muslim, questioning and/or belittling his faith ranks right up at the top of the list.

OK. So prove he's a Christian.

If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a civilization, it expects what never was and what never will be.
Rev. John H. Thomas, the United Church of Christ's general minister and president says that Obama has been a member of the Church of Christ for 20 years.
Since I'm a Baptist, I had to look up how one becomes a member of the Church of Christ.
Quote:
Foremost in our Christian relationship, we are members of the body of Christ. We belong to Him (Romans 14:8), and are members of His church. This relationship is separate from the other relationships. Other people have the same relationship with Christ, and thus they share the same type of relationship. On a local level, we have this relationship in a threefold sense. One is our individual relationship with Christ, and one is our relationship with our brethren and one is in our common (shared) alliance with Christ.
Our membership exists because God adds us to this fellowship (Acts 2:47). God adds us upon our obedience to His commandment to be baptized for the remission of sins. Because our sins keep us separate from God (Isaiah 59:2), we must have them removed. The process of baptism does this (Acts 16:22). Thus being clean and new, we are allowed into the presence of God through this relationship. In this relationship, we are members of Christ's body, His church (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 1:22-23).
To be a member of the Church of Christ, you have to be baptized, just like we Baptists do. The president of Church of Christ says he's a member and has been one for 20 years. That means he's a baptized Christian.

I personally feel this was a 'slip of the tongue'. And I personally feel that there is too much specific
action required of an individual to convert to being a Christian so there's a 'paper trail' so to speak, of
one's movement towards Christianity and membership in a Church.
But that being said, if you're a Jew, would you ever say you're 'Going to Church' on a Friday night ? Or would you ever refer to your Rabbi as a Priest ? I personally have never made the mistake to say
"Happy Channukkah" to my 80-year-old father on Christmas Day, or have not ever made the slip and said
"Im a Muslim" when I'm a Christian. Think about how your faith and it's associations are a part of your very being. I know I talk all day long too...not necessarily the same way Obama needs to communicate, but I've never once referred to my being a Hindu when I meant to say Christian. It's really rather strange to say the least... To sit in Rev.Wright's congregation for 20 years rather calls one's Christianity into question rather than affirms or confirms it, by the way. Ok....now I have to go to shul, er, I mean Church...
