I see a notice that in Obama's interview with Bill O'Reilly, Obama admits that the surge in Iraq has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. Unless that admission is somehow hedged, I think that is going to be damaging to Obama. Before I continue, I will admit that anyone can be wrong and that no one gets it right 100% of the time.
Notwithstanding. One key line of attack/differentiation that the Republicans are using is McCain's steadfast support for the surge in Iraq, in the face of considerable political danger (he would rather lose an election than lose a war -- referring specifically to his support for the surge). If now Obama admits that the surge is working, has worked, and Iraq is the better for it . . . and that he was strongly against the surge, that seems to add fuel to the Republican's arguments. Additionally, it makes Harry Reid look bad who proclaimed that the Iraq war is lost in the US senate. In retrospect, that could be viewed as a treasonous act giving aid and comfort to our enemies, but I won't go there. I'll let the US public jump to that conclusion on their own.
Unless that admission is in some way conditioned or buffered in some way, I would think that would provide a LOT of fodder for the Republican campaign.
I think Dick Morris said the Republicans wanted to make only a couple of major points -- McCain/Palin (1) were substantially better on defense/security and (2) had a better solution for relieving the price of gasoline. If Obama concedes 1, he is going to be in trouble on #2 also. I don't think the majority of the undecided voters are going to appreciate his nuanced and frankly speculative argument why increased drilling (along with other initiatives including more nuclear energy plants) can't provide relief at the pumps -- I think he loses that point too.
Is it surprising when a drowning man suddenly begins clutching at straws? Beyond his wildest dreams? He has repeatedly and publicly stated that the surge wouldn't work, wasn't working, and would never work, but now suddenly it's succeded beyond his wildest dreams? What a freakin' posuer! It's a wonder he doesn't need a chiropracter from all the flip flopping he's done, and it seems that the American public is beginning to realize it. Let the bastard twist, with each back peddle he digs the demmies grave that much deeper. His disingenous side is becoming more glaringly apparent as the election draws closer, if the republicans can get him into an unvarnished debate he's toast.

I wish that the O'Reilly interview would have been in its entiriety tonight, instead there is three more nights of it. I don't usually listen to him, but if I remember I will try to catch the rest of it. It is sort of like trying to squeeze a greasy grape whentalking to Hussien. He said the questions to Hussein about the Reverend Wright get interesting.
if he admitted it worked and didn't support it
wouldn't that mean his judgement of things suck
John McCain said it would work before the surge and when it was unpopular.
(Now thats leadership you can believe in)
I saw the interview last night.Bill Oreilly is obviously very bright and doesn't let people slide on things. He was also fair and impartial by saying Obama is not a whimp. He definitely took him to task on the Surge and Obama while admitting it was successful beyond his wildest dreams he did a lot of dancing.
Generals on the ground in Iraq said this week that our troops have begun to "pull back in 13 of 18 provinces" - their words.
Surge? well, it's over now - unless pulling back can somehow be spun into "surge".

Jesus. Do you have ANY working synapses? The Surge worked. Therefore, we are able to pull back. Who is trying to "spin" pulling back into "surge"?
I find it rather incredible that Anbar Province was turned over to Iraqis in the last week. Prior to the surge, Anbar was the center of terrorist activity and the most violent region in Iraq. Now, American soldiers were in parades. Without body armor. Without their weapons. Without helmets. And, what was the liberal media focused on? Ooooooh Myyyyy.... Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter is PREGNANT!!!!!!
