Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

So, Ive heard yall made some girl butt out because she was voicing her opinions about whats going on in America. Is this true? If so, Why?

I bet yall express your feelings and concerns about Mexico and Iraq. Its really no different, except that she has family here.

I dont follow politics for the simple fact that most people become narrow minded. There is really no real way to discuss them without it getting heated. Its ridiculous.

A couple of folks were rude, and their comments were uncalled for.

I have recommended her to contact the mods if she feels she violated, I also hopefully gracefully added a few pointers to make her time here a bit more comfortable. I am not condoning anyone's actions, just felt like a few pointrers may help her out here. On this site everyone is entitled to their opinion and no one has the right to tell her that she can't post. So I say post on.

As I told her in Offseason, if I wandered into her back yard and kibbutzed how she mowed her lawn I'd be liable to get some attitude too unless I could back up what I was saying. Some of the other comments were definitely off base though, and downright rude. Whether we realize it or not, what happens here, especially who we elect, can have far reaching consequences in other countries. I'd say that gives them at least an opinion on the subject.

Its just an opinion. So for comments that were made... honestly, it shows that some people arent even worth having around. If you dont like a comment, dont respond until you are going to do it in a tactful way that is not going to misunderstood as rude, or unwelcome. What if I were, well I am, a new member and that was the FIRST impression I got? Some ...Deleted by CalHunter... telling me I had no right to have an opinion because I dont live in this country. Makes me want to ...Deleted by CalHunter... puke at how people can be so narrow minded/ rude.

As I recall, you got a bit of a trouncing early on for having strong opinions too CupCake, yet you're not shrinking from posting. I've been lambasted more times than I care to count, including a few I deserved, yet here I am. Granted, some of the respondants could've shown more tact, but showing the backbone to laugh at them would've garnered her more respect. I happen to like Sarah personally, and respect her opinions, but when you draw the spotlight onto yourself you have to expect some heat, especially in a forum where topics are hotly debated and tempers flare more often than the Pacific Ring of Fire.

Oh, yea, man. I couldn't agree more. Maybe we could start using racial, religious, and ethnic slurs too. We could then be proud of the parade of backbone required in retort.

So lets list all the things we can hurl at board members with whom we disagree, shall we? How about ****? N*gger okay? After all, they should "expect some heat" when they "draw themselves into the spotlight, right?

Strong opinions? Yes, but I never bash anyone nor make them feel unwelcome nor have I made an unfair or rude comment and if I have, please quote me and we arent talking about "in fun" comments either. Im talking about the ones that are harsh and I said them to hurt.

I went back and read the entire thread over again. It turns out that only two people objected to her statements because she isn't an American.

Others, including myself, only asked that she provide some basis for her comments that Palin is taking contradictory positions.

So when push comes to shove, a couple people were rude, but the general consensus was NOT that she should "butt out."

I stand by my comment 100%, I could careless what foreigners think of our elections and canidates. As I recall, and accurately so, nobody told her to shutup, nobody said don't post any more. Call it rude, call it what you want, do the VC111 knight and shining armor act, I don't care. Now, if she is indeed an American citizen living abroad, thenI recant my statement. As far as discrimination goes, that is an absurd accusation. Foreigners can't vote in our elections now can they? How dare we discriminate against those poor souls. I garantee you will not find me going on a foriegn based site commenting on that countries canidates, because its not my business, nor any other Americans either. Finally, WAY too much has been made out of this already, and some thicker skins must be grown, this is after all, a political forums, and frankly, rather tame compared to most.
