Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The Audacity of BS

So I'm watching some of the hurricane coverage (It's about an hour from me now) and CNN pops on Obama giving a speech about how he's monitoring the situation and how he's been on the phone with Homeland Security, blah, blah, blah. What is he trying to pull? Is it the whole "looking Presidential" thing? Because I have a phone and can call Homeland Security and I have a TV, so I can "monitor the situation" just like he is doing, and I have just as much to do with anything as he does. Do you think CNN will give me a minute and a half of airtime to tell everyone what I am doing today?

BTW, I am monitoring the situation by talking to my old partner still on NOPD, watching some news, working on my jeep, weeding the garden, and playing with my dogs. So I guess I am a little different than Obama, I got something tangible accomplished today.

Rant complete...

He can care all he wants, lots of people care. They just don't feel the need to go on national television and announce that they made a phone call and will be watching TV all day. It sounded to me like he wanted people to believe he was participating in something when he is only a spectator like the rest of us. A freshman senator from Illinois has as much to do with handling this situation as you do. If he wants to help, the shelters around here are always looking for people to pitch in. Otherwise, he can stay home with his mouth shut like most of the other members of congress who are not involved.

Ah but he's not just "another member of congress" is he? Also, you are aware that in such cases it is often not his doing that arranges such a statement, usually the media contacts the candidate asking for a statement. Had he said, "no i have no comment on the issue I'm doing what I can internally", I'm sure you all would be on here saying "OBAMA HATES AMERICA! HE DOESN't EVEN CARE ABOUT GUSTAV!"

Yes, he is, and a junior one at that. Just because he's running for an office doesn't mean he's anything more than the one he occupies currently. I just can't stand a poser.

Maybe wahoohunter is missing the point.

What the hell business does a presidential candidate have "being in contact with Homeland Security"? Homeland Security takes its orders from the President, NOT from a presidential candidate. It's just as laughable as when Obama sent his questionaire to the Defense Department demanding answers a few months ago. When he's President, he can do those things. For now, stop posing as something you're not, and get back on the campaign trail (or, better yet, go about the business that we're paying you for, which is sitting in Senate chambers listening to debate and casting votes . . . that goes for Obama and McCain and any future presidential candidate).

Well as always, McCain is running Obama's game plan. I just heard McCain's campaignspokeman say McCain is in contact with Fema. It appears McCain is collecting money at the convention for the hurricane. After the Republican response of Katrina, McCain should be ashamed of himself, and it is a mochary. This guy will stoop to anything.

Once again more BS from something you know nothing about. katrina was a failure at the local and state level. Not National. Remember it was Bush who had to beg and plead with the govenor to declare a state of emergency days in advantce and for here to issue evacuation orders. Furthermore, how come Jefferson Parrish didn't have massive flooding when thier levies broke? There are right next door?
