On a plane from Denver to Charlotte following the Democrats' convention, I found myself seated behind former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Don Fowler and Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina. Their conversation was interesting to say the least.
For example, they made fun of Sarah Palin for several minutes, Fowler calling her "Dan Quayle" on steroids and Spratt creatively describing her as "just terrible." They both agreed that, "Other than the simple fact that she's a female," she has nothing to offer.
Then there was this gem of a moment from Fowler:
So you see, it's funny. That New Orleans will get a hurricane. That's funny because it is due to hit when President Bush is scheduled to speak. Isn't that cool? Fowler isn't the only one who thinks so, just ask Michael Moore.
We all know Democrats used and use Katrina as a political football as callously as possible. Here's a candid moment showing some can hardly wait for another one.
All Class.
RE: Proof democrats hate republicans more than care about US lives
This is your absolutely pathetic, vile democrats who are supposed to care about people. So 10,000 people die. That's ok, because it disrupts the republican convention. Way to go democrats, once again you've shown you're a bunch of low life thugs whose only care is about power rather than the people you serve. [:@]

The truth be known, the bad Republicansare part of what has killed your party. Instead of truths, you constantly spin the matters to make your party look better. We all really know what happened with Katrina, and Bush better do things alot different with this one or his buddy McSame is toast. AHH he is already toast. ...Deleted by CalHunter...

That doesn't surprise me at all. It really won't be that big of a deal. Conventions are only for firing up your base and McCain did that with Palin. If anything changes it will be to McCain's advantage. Imaging the follow up comercials should the dems try to use the huricane pics as a campaign advantage. It would be huge and McCain's team has already proven they are way ahead with meaningful responses.
On a side note, there is a reason I never discuss or do business on a plane, shuttle, bar or at lunch. If I take a customer to lunch it is lunch on a personal level, not a sales situtation. I can't tell you the info I have received while eavse dropping on conversations and/or playing dumb after you know who is sitting next to you.

They celebrated when our troops' votes didn't count, hope we lose as many lives in Iraq as possible and lose the war, and now this. And this statement was made by a top democrat here, not just whacko Moore talking. Absolutely pathetic, and I hope this story gets the legs it deserves to once again paint the democrats as the pieces of dung they truly are.

Not a big shock here!!!
I am so tired of all the back and forth between both parties, the sad thing is the people we elect to office are not the ones who are running the counrty its all the damn special interest groups of lobbiest. We just need to start over from the top down and pick people who come from common backgrounds who work a 40 hour plus work week and are blue collar workers.
I feel sorry for my kids because they have to grow up in this crap.

I'm not surprised about this, so I'm not going to comment on the callousness of the Democrats. Old news. What I will comment on is the selective perception of people with regard to Palin. How can those guys look at this woman and dismiss her so casually. I think they are missing important dimensions of this woman. I'm thinking if you don't take this woman seriously, you are going to pay a steep price. She is real. She has the chops. What does it say about a Democrat who scoffs at her and dismisses her? Go ask a woman voter what it means. Go ask an independent undecided voter who is fed up with partisanship, do-nothing congress (remember, congress is dominated by Democrat majorities in both the House and the Senate) that has an approval rating of about 10%. Palin has an 80% approval rating among her constituents.
I heard a very interesting point made last night by some pundit. He mentioned that Palin was articulate and persuasive . . . and she didn't need to read her words off a teleprompter. Think about that.
So, ignore Palin at your own risk, Democrats. I think you are just missing the point and seeing what your own sycophantic news media camp followers have told you.

I heard a Dem this morning saying Hillary had way more experience. Can one of you Dem's on this board please list it? I've asked this several times before and you all came up with nothing. BD did try to argue she had more experience then Obama, but I'm 99% convince he would say Hillary has more. So please convince me.

If Republicans didn't want Democrats to use that particular political football, Bush and his equally inept cronies shouldn't have handed them the ball.
I didn't get a chance to watch the video earlier and that site is down now, so I don't know what was said between these men. It's obvious someone was recording this chat without their knowledge and consent. So, just another example of Republicans feeling entitled to eavesdrop on and record private conversations. That's the heart and soul of Bush's Patriot Act.
Like I said in my thread yesterday, it's not funny that Gustav is going to hit the U.S. but it's really ironic that it's going to happen just in time for the Republican convention after that Focus on the Family group posted their video asking people to pray for 'rain of biblical proportions' during Obama's acceptance speech. I can understand how these fellas could get a good chuckle at that irony, but not at all be laughing about the hurricane itself.
RE: Proof democrats hate republicans more than care about US lives
Hillary has more experience in the Whitehouse than Obama but her experience and accomplishments with Travelgate, etc. are nothing worth using against Obama. This election is already turning into attack politics whereby character assassination is acceptable to many people on all sides.
Democrats would be well advised to concentrate on explaining exactly why Obama is capable of running this country and why he would do that better than McCain. Calling McCain "Mcsame" or Bush jr. is juvenile and self-defeating. Just about anybody who honestly assesses McCain's campaign knows that conservatives, most Republicans and even most independents don't think McCain is like Bush. McCain is more like an independent than a Republican and has his hurdles to overcome with Republicans and conservatives in particular.
Both VP candidates do bring something to their respective campaigns but neither is going to lead their presidential contender by the nose or dictate their positions or policies. Each VP candidate was chosen to shore up their campaign's credentials and will do so. But the bottom line is each voter needs to decide if they think Obama or McCain can do a better job as president because it's going to be one of those 2 guys in the Whitehouse for the next 4 years and they will be making the decisions based on their philosophies, beliefs, experience and integrity.
