Talk about contradicting yourself. He said publicly a year ago that Obama wasnt qualified to be president and he would run with McCain. My how quickly things change. Now he is running as Obama's vice president.

RE: Joe Biden-What an idiot
Biden is a tough fighter and IMO wonmost of the debates he entered. The pick was brilliant and drove McCain to play the woman's card to compete. This one should prove interesting.

i am not saying biden isnt a good guy. Just ridiculous that he insults obama and then runs with him. The opposite of what he already said but they do that all the time

I hope McCain picks a good running mate

Does he not say even now that at that point in the process Obama was not ready? I believe he has since said (before being chosen as the VP candidate) that Obama has matured and shown to him that he is the man for the job. Contradictions occur every day in politics, especially when you take something that was said a year ago and compare to what is being said and done today. McCain said America is a "nation of whiners." Do you think he's going to address Americans from here on out as "whiners," and, if he doesn't, does that mean he's contradicting himself?

McCain said that? I thought it was Phil Gramm, who was immediately kicked to the curb by McCain. But, when your sole talking points come from the Dailykos, I guess you could get confused...
Whereas I don't remember Obama throwing out the dude that said we're bitter, and that's why we have guns and our faith, oh wait, that was Obama, oops......

ipscshooter: Absolutely right. It was Phil Gramm who said this, not McCain, and for this remark Phil Gramm was immediately jettisoned by the McCain staff. That remark is NOT attributable to McCain.
Of course, Phil Gramm WAS RIGHT. The economy -- the academic abstraction which Gramm was talking about, as a degree economist -- is doing relatively well by the metrics that are traditionally used to measure the economy. For example, the economy grew in the second quarter this year. Interest rates are relatively low. Employment, while not at an all-time high, is high relatively speaking. We are a nation of whiners. But notwithstanding the correctness of Gramm, this was inpolitic and would have been damaging. This is particularly so because the news media have turned the academic abstraction, which Gramm thought he was talking about, into instead a subject measure of any particular individual's quantity of pocket change rolling around in their dungarees. Some people are feeling financially pinched right now -- maybe because they foolishly bought a home with a reverse equity loan or with a adjustable rate which was definitely going to increase over time, based on the speculation that the value of their property -- already at an all-time high -- would continue to increase at a rate of 15% per year. Maybe because they don't manage their money well and have loaded up on credit card debt. Maybe because they drive a gas guzzler vehicle.
