What Happened to African-American?

I've been reading about Obama and hearing about him on the news etc., and I think I've noticed something. Everyone refers to him as "Black." What happened to "African-American." I thought that was the currently correct term to use for "African-Americans."

Why isn't he our first African-American nominee?

African American is a term used to help decended of slave black skinned people in the US identify with their "roots"

Because the country of origin wasn't known, the words African American was coined to give them continental association - Africa

Obama is Kenyan American (Daddy was from Kenya, right ?) just like Arnold is Austrian American (rather than European American) or Michael J Fox is Canadian American (rather than North American American)

Some say man kind migrated out of africa ( north?) a long long time ago-to populate the earth with the various races of ppls - in the Americas then we would all be- African -Americans. Including the natives who it said migrated here about 10.12,000 yrs agofrom the asian land mass or so before the main migration europians & white man to north america - but there was contacts other then the asian land bridge etci think.

But isolated for awhile anyways from each other - thus why the native had no immunitys to the deseases from europe etc.
