Default Abortion vs Gun Control

Sinceabortion and gun controlseem to be generating a lot of interest here:
If two presidential candidates had totally different views on these subjects, who would you vote for?

One is in favor of gun control but is against abortions, the other is against gun control but is pro choice.

What's more important to you?

For the sake of argument, pick one, voting for neither is not an option.

Abortion ir more important and here's why.

The 2nd Amendment is in our Constitution, the Supreme Court recognized this recently, the ACLU knows it, the NRA fights it daily and it simply cannot be overwritten by other laws easily. Its extremely important, but it has many people fighting for it.

Abortion and the Right to Life isn't in the Constitution. The legalization changes, maybe every year, every decade, every 3 decades ...... but what is legal today can be illegal tommorrow. Remember, only 32 or so years of this country's existance has killing unborn human beings been legalized.

Because of that, abortion continues to be tops on my list.

If tommorrow Roe vs Wade was repealed, I'd hazard to say that most people in this country would be fine with it. The minority pro-abortion zealots would squeal loudly - 1,000,000 + babies wouldn't be killed pre-birth and maybe, just maybe the value of life would be somewhat resptored.

Oh, and "medical" clinics would lose hundreds of millions of dollars if abortions were illegal

I would place a higher priority on a candidates position on the 2nd amendment. Abortion is legal and i seriously doubt that is gonna change. Hell, six of the 9 current Supreme Court judges are Republican appointees and you don't see them making a run at Roe versus Wade. On the other hand, the Heller decision indicated that the 2nd Amendment is a much more dynamic issue.

Ironically that has nothing to do with it. "Wrong" is an arbitrary word that means differnt things to different people. The Uni-bomber didn't think he was "wrong" neither did Hitler.

You have a Right to own a gun. You do not havea Right to have your unborn killed - a law gives you legalization to have it done, but there is no "right"

pre-Roe vs Wade people seriously thought abortion would never be legalized. One Supreme Court decision changed everything - and it can again.

Its simple, both abortion and gun control are wrong...

However, IF i had to choose between the two. I would pick someone who is against abortion. Saving babies is more important than my right to own guns.

I'd just be an outlaw

Not with lots of polls showing that the majority of people will not support a total ban on abortion. Overturning Roe versus Wade is a cream dream for some folks that MIGHT, POSSIBLY happen, but is pretty unlikely. On the other hand, the Heller decision indicates that it is more realistic to see good things happening in terms of gun rights.

Sure you do - everyone has the right to do whatever they want, it's called free-will. Consequences (sin), will be there in the end however. I know what you are saying and agree, but I had to point that out.

Abortion will always be in place in our society, it's called population control and if anyone hasn't noticed lately, the norm for our society is leaning to the way of an immoral way of life.

What is funny about this subject is how opposite the parties are on this subject, as a whole. Why are gun haters also baby haters? The thought process there seems to contradict itself - liberal, do what you want, open your mind, accept anything kind of attitude promotes a right to kill your baby. In turn, that same way of life should promote the owning of guns, no? Hypocrites.

Of course another question is why so many anti-abortion folks are pro-capital punishment. In some ways I understand it, but it is still fairly ironic.
