John McCain is seriously considering choosing a pro-abortion-rights running mate despite vocal resistance from conservatives, with former Democratic vice presidential nominee Joseph I.Lieberman (I-Conn.) very much in the mix, close McCain advisers say.
Under strong consideration: former Pennsylvania Republican Gov. Tom Ridge, and Lieberman, who was Al Gore"™s running mate in 2000.
Multiple GOP sources say that party officials in Washington and in the states have been contacted by the McCain campaign in the past two weeks and asked about the fallout from such a choice. One person familiar with the calls said the party was being instructed to prepare for different candidate prototypes"” including one in the mold of Lieberman, who is an independent but still caucuses with the Democrats.
I'm not sure it would matter who McCain gets for VP, he is riding on his being "captured/but know how to defend speaches" I think most americans know that he is the same old STUFF
At least McCain will be able to find a running mate that is less qualified to be president, where as Obama is probably having a hard time finding a running mate that's not more qualified to be pres. than he is!!

That is because "Nobama" ( I LIKE it !) IS a fool. For McCain to choose senator Leiberman, a hard-left
independent/democrat, will be the same as McCain stepping out of the race, but without the associated
cost saving. McCain will lose all those republicans willing to sit out an election rather than vote for
mediocrity, pusillanimity, and liberalism. We want a republican in there, not another skunk democrat masquerading as an independent....
Last I heard, McCain has backed off of considering a pro-choice candidate, but who knows. Sean Hannity (whom I normally ignore) has suggested that McCain announce that if he is elected, Lieberman would be the designated Secretary of State. Kind of makes sense to me. That way, you may get more of the moderate independents on board, but it wouldn't be a move that won't alienates McCain with the anti-abortion crowd.
And I now find it very amusing that, as someone pointed out, Obama will have difficulty in finding a running mate who isn't far more qualified and experienced to be President than Obama.

Dang... I really need to read the whole thread before responding. That line was already taken...
Bergall: You are right. I strongly disagree with adding Lieberman to the ticket, but, is he really "hard-left". I thought he was more of a moderate-left.
