where will the "road" money come from?
So with the big push for "alternatives" to move our cars from point A to point B, where's the money going to come from to build/maintain/repair our roads when the taxes from gas decline further. There are many states/citys/municipalitys that are already facing a budget short fall because of high cost of oil, and fewer gallons of gas being sold. SO, if we replace "oil" to move our cars, what will be the way that we are "taxed" to replace the lost tax revinue? I've read that some states have already began to find other ways to "tax" people that have hybrids. SO if everyone drives a hybrid, or a fuel cell car, will they just "tax" everyone a flat rate no matter how many miles you drive?
All this talk about "alternatives" and then the two alternatives that are mentioned are wind and solar. I've yet to see a car going down the road that's being powered by wind, and have only seen a couple on TV that are being powered by solar.
