Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Getting Gold

Phelps has just kicked butt the whole swimming time. But I have one thing that sticks in my craw....When you play the national anthem, put your hand over your heart, stand up straight and shut your blow hole ! Last night , him talking to the gent next to him bothered me...how about you?

Phelps has listened to the anthem many times here lately. Every time I've seen him, he's done exactly what you ask. If he happens to take his mind off of it for a moment, it's probably from the emotion of his accomplishments, as he's entering uncharted water. Give him a break.

In the video I saw of him on the podium when they were playing the Anthem, he was staring at the flag with hand over heart and had tears streaming down his face. I agree with hillbilly. Give the kid a break and quit nitpicking.

I agree with Big Duane on this one, gawd I think I just threw up in my mouth a little...

If I had just dragged home the amount of gold that Phelps has my arm might be a little tired too, but I think I could muster the strength to hold my hand chest high just one more time, which he apparently did.

Micheal Phelps is a freak of nature, he absolutely destroys his competition. Lets hope the American Basketball team can continue their dominance as well.

Give the Kid a break, there is no telling what goes on in ones mind beating himself up like he does race after race. He is a lot of fun to watch and really just strikes fear in his opponents.

I agree with Buck Hunter. When the national anthem is playing, it is great to be emotional and cry all you want, but quit laughing and talking. I don't care how many times you have been there, it is NOT the time for goofing off. By the time someone is in their 20s, it should be automatic.

Now, it is no different at a high school basketball/football or whatever game or occasion. At any one of these, you can see some of the young kids get it and are standing giving their full attention/respect to the flag, while there are 40, 50 and 60 year olds talking like it is a commercial break. It just p's me off every time I see it.

Having said that, I have really enjoyed watching him swim. It has been amazing. But, his mom, Chris Collingsworth, Bush or somebody needs to explain to him what those few moments mean and remind him how many people are watching him.
