Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Does not matter. The current contest is between McCain and Obama.

What a matchup that would be: The insane far out against the insane far right.

Are you gonna try to say McCain is on the far right ? Cripes ! Most MIDDLE OF THE ROAD republicans
can't stand him 'cause he's too liberal. On the other hand, that skunk-bag obama is a frikkin 5th columnist.
His hordes support him mindlessly, and without understanding. It's a sad sad state of affairs when an American would stand up for a socialist and have no embarrassment at standing up and being counted as one of 'em.....

While I agree with your assessment of Obama and his supporters, I think it's pretty clear falcon was referring to a hypothetical Bush v. Obama election, not to the McCain v. Obama election.

I know.....I think it's an immaterial comparison so I didn't entertain the notion. I will admit that Bush is
definitely not a speech-maker. I will also admit Obama is a polished speaker. I"ve seen Bush 'wing it' and
do quite well, and we've all seen Obama talking off the cuff and steppin' on his hoo-hoo in the shower.
Is this fanciful election going to take place in present day America or is it going to take place in the USA of 2004 ? Bush beat Gore and he beat Kerry. America chose Bush not once, but twice, both times we selected him over liberal candidates. How about JFK vs. Obama if we want a war of words between two great speakers ? How about the great Hubert Humphrey against Obama; 2 liberals of fair-to-middlin' speaking talent with the liberal Humphrey looking like a republican conservative in today's republican
party ? Hey...here's a good one....AL Gore vs Obama ! 2 ego maniacs let loose in 'one upmanship' in front of the cameras....

Now to entertain the notion (and light the fuse or 'pull the pin' on this grenade), I will say that if Dubya
were to run for an unprecedented 3rd term against Obama, I believe he'd win. He's still more conservative
than McCain or any of the other republican 'offerings', and from an conservative stance, he can surely destroy a third liberal democrat by carrying disaffected Hillary supporters, the Hispanic and Bible-Belt votes and the military vote (and awayyyyyyyy we go !!!)

I think if GW was running for the first time against Obama, he'd probably win. Now....not a chance, imo.

I certainly have see W do well in off the cuff 'interviews'. He's a lousy speaker and his words are labored
but I've not seen him step on his tongue like "Obama unscripted".

It's a tough call with Bush vs. Obama. The cons (both traditional and neo) are repulsed by the current-day democrat party. Most folks who are Right of center are comparing voting for McCain with a Root-canal procedure; gonna hurt like hell but ya gotta do it 'cause the alternative is much worse.
With Bush, we know what we have. We're also looking at Obama and kind of being scared crapless with
his policies, his behavior, his associations, and his tax proposals. Bush'd take it in a landslide because he'd
garner the 'undecideds' who'd sit out a McCain candidacy....

Good points, Obama is a great speaker with a teleprompter - "off the cuff," not so much...
