Default Republicans need to fillibuster any and all energy bills!

Republicans need to fillibuster any and all energy bills thatare put forth to a vote in the Senate. They are now in the driver seat. If nothing changes and no new restrictive drilling bills get passed, the off shore ban is set to expire next month!!!!! We can only hope that happens. Call your Senator next week and leave a message. Better yet, find out where he of she is at (those that actually go home and talk to their people when on break) and let them know you want it to expire.

I'd like to see this happen. Just so we can see how it affects the current price of oil.

Sure, let see it happen. However, you know any and all drilling would face years worth of legal challenges. The best thing we could hope for (but won't happen) is Bush call for new oil lease option sales on Oct. 1.

besides all that, I just wanted to see if oil would come down when the ban expires...I know that actual drilling there isn't the solution to anything

Why would you say that? You already admit nothing is there to take the place of oil.

How could producing just enough oil to meet 1% of our demand lead to a major decrease in prices?

However, prices will drop on the mere action of Congress allowing off-shore drilling, and that's a good thing.

No, you mean the mere inaction of congress. The energy bill being worked out between the gang of 10 (idiots) won't ever allow off shore drilling. First off, any drilling must be done 50+ miles from shore, only includes 4 states (those local goverments must aprove), EPA, PETA and the Sierra Club have veto power. Do you think drilling will happen? Fortunately, they need more republicans to sign off on this and Mitch should be able to hold on to the rest or I at least hope so for the sake of this nation.

Hey Hillbilly, who's lobby has too much influence?

The Republican senate better filibuster before January. They have put all their eggs in the McCain basket and Republican senatorial candidates are cash starved. If the number of Republicans in the new senate is less than about 44 there is no chance of a filibuster holding. There are 6-10 Republicans in the senate who can be counted on to take the left road on any given issue. This is why the AWB renewal passed the US senate.

Got any evidence on that falcon? The RNC is out fundraising the DNC. There are several states that the Dem's want to pick up but are having trouble raising money for their candidates. Just curious.

Hmmm.... Dilling in the eastern Gulf and off the East Coast are one of the main themes of the bill, so I don't see how you expect to get away with that line of BS.

The only 'idiots' are those who think nothing should be passed unless it includes every pet theme they want and nothing they don't want, and there are idiots aplenty on both sides.
