Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Anthrax Attacker Almost Caught-Kills Self

Not long after 9/11 several folks died of anthrax. The DOJidentified Steven Hatfil, a scientist at Ft. Detrick, as a "person of interest."It dragged on for years and this year Hatfil was awarded more than five million in his suit against the government.

About a year ago the FBI homed in on another scientist at Ft. Detrick whorecently killed himself. This guy was really scary: His shrink was even afraid of him.

WASHINGTON - DNA taken from the bodies of people killed in the 2001 anthrax attacks helped lead investigators to Bruce Ivins, who oversaw the highly specific type of germ in an Army lab, a government scientist said Sunday.

[/align]Using new genome technology to identify the type of Ames strain anthrax used in the attacks, the FBI began to focus on Ivins as its top suspect more than a year ago, according to the scientist who is close to the investigation.

Default RE: Anthrax Attacker Almost Caught-Kills Self

I can understand having a controlled environment that produces anthrax (and other "biological warfare bugs") in order to possibly come up withthe science to combat them in an emergency situation. But wouldn't that better come under the jurisdiction of the CDC or other non-military agencies??

If a country that we had suspicions about had exactly the same "set-up" that we do, would we consider them to have biological weapons of mass destruction?? I'm not saying that our own government is on the same plane as hostile countriesas far as trustworthines, but shouldn't these germs, although possibly highly guarded by the military, be under civilian scientific control. Maybe they are already, I don't know, just seems a little concerning.
