Default McCainonomics full of hot air?

If McCain somehow or some way, were to get into the White House, I don't see anyway for him to live up to anything he say's with opposition in congress.

On healthcare, he proposes to eliminate employer based insurance and to give people a $5,000 tax credit so they can buy their own. Stupid idea. Bush tried this when his party was in the majority of both the House and Senate and it still went nowhere. If Bush in 8 years couldn't do this with his own party in power, how does McCain figure he can accomplish this in one term with opposition in the House and Senate. Dumb Idea anyway.

On Social Security,McCain wants to "augment" the system with private accounts. Stupid Idea. Bush, with his party running both the House and Senate failed with the dumb Idea. Bush new better than to even mention this again after 2006. Again something McCain is saying but won't be able to do. Dumb Idea.

On taxes, he wants to extend the Bush tax cuts past 2010. Dumb Idea. Bush tried this over and over to no avail. This is something McCain can't deliver on and everyone knows it. Dumb Idea.

On Iraq, he wants to keep our troops there for 100 or a million years. Sadly, this is something that the president can do, even with congressional opposition. sadly dumb Idea.

I think a McCain presidency will have terrible ramifications for our security, our civil liberties, and for the Supreme Court. As you can see, McCain is using Ideas from a unpopular president, who has already failed at getting a lot of those dumb Ideas turned into law. McCain is running on a rejected platform.

Of course McCain has not laid out his full plan yet, but it looks like he is running a Bush 3rd term.

Hey Don, your post is full of "Dumb Ideas" most of which are statements made by Mccain that were taken out of context. At least he is laying out ideas. Higher Taxes, 800 Billion to Africa, reparataions, Private savings accounts for employees courtesy of their employers(Isn't that what a 401k is?) now those are DUMB IDEAS. Get off the Obama Koolaid before it consumes you . Oh here is a linky Donny boy to Obama apparently he removed the US flag from his aero-plane

Interesting, Rainman, that you don't give any reason why any of those are "dumb ideas". All you do is say "Bush tried it, so it's a dumb idea." That's a pathetically poor argument. Please explain, in detail, for example, why extending the tax cuts is a dumb idea. And, to make the project a little more fun, please also explain why Obama's proposed tax increases are a good idea.

Also, I'd like a detailed explanation of the terrible ramifications of a McCain presidency on the Supreme Court.

As far as the supreme court goes. No one thinks McCain would nominate ethically-challenged judges. But there is every reason to think that he will nominate ideological conservatives to the Supreme Court and lower federal courts. I think this is important because federal courts are already dominated by Republican appointees. Seven of the 9 Justices, and alot of the lower fed judges were appointed by Republican presidents. With the courts liberal/moderate judges on average 15 years older than consevative judges, McCain could deliver the court to the Right Wing for a GENERATION..The Far Right clearly understands this, wich is why they have forced McCain to profess his devotion to their Supreme Court cause. Scary Stuff

As for Bush Tax Cuts, When you are increasing military spending, paying for 2 so called wars, and the creation of another superfluous gov bureaucracy, (Homeland Security). This puts you in a deficit mode. The Bush tax cuts are trickle down, supply-side Reagonomics and "voodoo economics" all over again. They were a bad Idea then and they are a bad Idea now. They don't create jobs or stimulate the economy and they make things much worse for the economically disadvantaged. You simply don't give tax breaks or cuts, wich mainly benafit the rich, when large numbers of American people are in a bind. It may get you votes, but someone has to pay for it. What is needed is Tax Reform.
