Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Country of Origin Labeling

Remember the latest salmonella outbreak that started in April? They just found out that jalapeno peppers from Mexico are the culprit. The FDA initially blamed tomatoes. Wrong!!! This boo-boo cost US growers $200 million dollars.

Did the sleuthy fedsfind salmonella in jalapenos? Hell no!!! The state of MN did.

Since 2002 there has been a law on the books that requires all produce to be labeled with country of origin. Finally the law is to be implemented in September, 2008. Why did it take so long despite the fact that over 90 percent of US citizens want COOL? Lobbyists for meat and produce growers have been paying off members of congress big time, of course.

Here we have a fine example of the will of the voters being side-tracked by lobbyists. BTW: The Mexicans are raising holy hell.

They put little stickers with a code on all the little plums and peaches so the cashiercan ring them up. Why can't the little sticker say what country it came from?

Great point! Food contamination can be accidental or an insidious plot to negatively impact our health and economy.
