Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Army says no to Caleb Campbell

This kid is not allowed to play football for the Detroilet Lions and asked to fullfill his promise to serve. I do not feel bad for him, what do others think?

I don't think it hurt David Robinson's career any.

He made a committment to serve. The fact that he runs a 4.5 forty yard dash shouldn't impact that if the Army thinks they need him elsewhere. He was a 7th round draft pick, so its not like they are losing out on a future hall of famer anyway. I think that they will let him out to play in 2010.

if he signed the papers then the government has a contract, legal and binding.
He will serve unless he can find where, in the contract he signed, the government has done something
to break the premises of the contract. Valid contract = desert cammies. Enjoy the climate....

David Robinson did not serve. The Navy let him go to the NBA, to my recollection.

I believe it was because he out grew the height restrictions of the navy.

The only issue I have is that the Army changed their mind, they agreed to allow him to be a recruiter in the area AND play for the NFL.

However I have a HUGE problem with any military academy grad who whines UNDER ANY CONDITION, that they got drafted and need to play! They knew going into the academy what the promise was. You get a great education for FREE, your side is you pay this back with military service. You NEED to expect to full fill this. these guys basically have their pick of any D1 school, why go this route if you aren't going to serve.

Robinson filed "hardship" and got out. I would have tossed his butt on a sub.

Bob, I agree with what you have to say with signing up and serving. Don't whine afterwards. I ended up in the detailers office reading dream sheets and assigning some folks to their duty stations. You would be amazed at some of the things I read.

David exceed height of 6'7" too tall for a ship. It says he served 2 years for recruitment.
