Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

I completely support the law so long as we can be assured that National parks are 100% devoid of all 2 and 4 legged predators.

Federal Lands should be free for Americans to responsibly exercise their rights as citizens.
Concealed and open carry in National Parks should be allowed and encouraged; WTF is the federal
government doing, to abridge civil rights on land belonging to the "people of the United States of America" ?
Fact is, there ARE varmints of both two AND four=legged varieties. Just look and see how many 'missing people' are listed on the Appalachian Trail....

Even though I am a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment, I've got to say that I agree with the current law when it comes to NATIONAL PARKS. There is practically no crime there and I think there would be a large increase in the number of animals thathad to bekilled because they were injured by some yay-hoo who wanted toshow offhis gun when he saw a bear near the road.

Much of the Appalachian trail is NOT on federal land. It is mostly on state lands where in most instances one can carry firearms. Exactly how many people are missing on the trail? Sure there may have been a murder or two on it over the years and some people may have just died because they were ill prepared or by accidents, but of the thousands who have hiked the trail I doubt too many were bothered by varmints of either the two or four legged kind. By the way, what four legged critter on the east coast of the US do you think is so dangerous that one needs to carry a gun at all times? Surely not a black bear? I really can't think of any others either.

Some think Sasquatch is running around also, but those are generally not the hard-core hikers. On the other hand the odds are good that the hunter who had way too many beers just might run into one of these creatures.

So, based on the logic of you two 'shining lights', without "need", there is no cause to want these things?
By extension, the guy who's never been robbed is exercising questionable judgement in the purchase
of a personal protection firearm, right ? Or the guy who's never hunted anything larger than southern
whitetails should not neeed anything larger than a 7mm caliber bullet ? How about being unable to
accelerate your car faster than 65 mph because you can't go faster than the speed limit.
The fact is, WE HAVE A RIGHT TO POSESS firearms. No place is this MORE TRUE than on the FEDERAL level which, by virtue of the 2nd amendment, shall not infringe on people's right to keep and bear...whatever that means nowadays. The point is, WHY NOT !!!!! How about it nimrods ?
Why should SOMEBODY ELSE decide what you shall or shall not posess on lands you own with all other
Americans ? Maybe your local magistrate will decide that about gun ownership in your neck of the woods....

It's not about needing to carry, since it is your right, there is no need to demonstrate a need. If they started confiscating Bibles, newspapers, and radios more people would be upset, but it's the same principle. What if they decided to separate men and women on fed land because it offended muslims for the sexes to mix, or if they limited people to congregating into groups of four or more out of fear that your assembly may become unpeaceable? It may seem trivial now, but the principle of limiting individual rights for firearms will ultimately be used to limit all the others.

I carry regardless of federal land or no, because as a cop(retired) I know that you never know, ya know?
