Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default The US Senate

By all predictionsRepublicans stand to lose five or six seats in the US senate. This would put the Republicans with a total of 43 or 44 seats. That is not enough to control debate since several liberal Republicans can always be depended to vote for cloture along with the Democrats.

The recent attemptto give amnesty to illegal aliens was a very close thing. Ifthe senate loses five or sixRepublican seats then the next attempt to give illegals the farm will be adone deal.

IMO: The RNC needs to direct lots of money at those close senate races. If the McCain campaign suffers as a result, so be it.

I sure don't believe that mccain is in that bad of shape as the media touts. The media was calling kerry and gore the easy winners, and was dead wrong about America's view.

If McCain is in as bad shape as the media claims and has no chance at winning, then I agree with you on this one.

We can survive bama, if both houses were not liberal controlled. But the policies that bama could push thru would have lasting effects (bad) for decades to come.

Yah, unless he makes a right turn it is back to SA Revolvers and Single Shot rifles. If we are lucky.

Most predictions are wrong just as often as they're right. Think of it this way, meteorologists have plenty of training, wondrous technology, and on average they're still wrong more than half of the time. The direction that the wind blows changes constantly, and usually when you least expect it.

Amen there Kevin. It's a shame the Republicans haven't controled congress for 50 years. President Dean was really bad but Kerry was worst. I'm not sure what we do when Hillary is president.

Predictions can often be wrong, but it's hard to imagine a scenario where Republicans don't lose several seats in the Senate this fall.

Only 2 Democrat incumbents in the Senate are even the least bit in jeopardy (Landrieu and Lautenburg). The Republicans have more incumbents than that (5) who are retiring and forcing the GOP to start from scratch with their seats. The RNC has already conceded 2 of those races (New Mexico and Virginia). Sununu is also in trouble in New Hampshire. There's 3 seats lost and we're just getting started. I think it's hard to conceive a situation where the Demmies don't pick up 4 or 5 seats. At least.

The thought of an Obama presidency isn't nearly as scary as the thought of an Obama presidency with a supermajority in the Senate.

Especially if predictions of a few new Supreme Court justices planned for the next 4to 8 years.
