I guess, I might,I suppose, feel alittle better about McCain without this guy advising McCain on economics. This guy definately has some underlying agenda's.

Do a little research on the man and get back to me. Phil is first class and was right on target with his comments.

Phil Gramm is a sorry a$$ed puke of the first order. After ram-rodding bank friendly legislation through the US senate, Gramm went to work for UBS bank. Now UBS is in big trouble due to the sub-prime debacle.
Since 2002, Gramm has been an executive with the U.S. operations of UBS, the giant Swiss Bank. An unintentionally hilarious interview with Gramm on the Wall Street Journal editorial page last week asserted that Gramm has "been a key instigator of some of the biggest money-making UBS deals of recent years." The interview was noteworthy not just for first-class butt-kissing, but for deliberately gliding over the avalanche of disasters in the past year that has turned UBS from a respected Swiss titan of discretion and risk management into a laughing stock. As this one-year chart shows, UBS's stock lost nearly 70 percent of its value and now stands at levels not seen since 2002, when Gramm signed up.

Phil Gramm said some politically damaging things and so his head must roll. That is the way of things.
It is an interesting point. Words have different meanings for different people. To the point "The economy." I personally think of the economy as an abstraction that is substantially decoupled from my specific financial situation of the day. Because gas prices are very high and food prices are very high -- and thus some people don't have spare change jingling in their pockets and may not know how they are going to send their kids to college. Some of these people choose to interpret "economy" to mean their specific condition and thus, because of their experience, the economy sucks and is really bad, bad, bad right now. I look at the economy as an abstraction and more of a general framework of business activity or enabling business activity. To me, if interest rates are sound, if other indicators are within acceptable ranges, things are OK. I look around and I see some companies laying off workers . . . but other companies are not laying off workers. My company is busy and has reasonable prosepects for getting busier in the near future. We've hired several new people this year. Some of our clients are contracting; others of our clients are expanding. I wouldn't say it is a strong growth period for the business community in general, but it doesn't look like the sky is falling.
Phil Gramm was talking about the economy from the later perspective. Regretably, for him, many people use "economy" in a different sense and felt he did not appreciate the hard time they were experiencing. This happens, and so Phil Gramm is history as a champaign manager.
Falcon, you too have linked to something far from a crediable source. However it's funny because near the end of the article and all that babble they claim Phil doesn't have an role in the day to day operating of what's going on. He's guilty by association. Nice try.
What Phil did say was very acurate about our nation. We have become a nation of whiners waiting for government to come and save us when they are the problem. We have rainmaker seeing no problem with illegals working at his work place because he was directly benifitting from their work. However, when he quits, he wants to run to the government to inact some sort of payback on his former boss. How sad. Then take the employment at the beach I was at. They have to import workers because todays youth are to lazy and not dependable enough. That to is very sad.
