Age: 42

Political Views: Independent...used to vote mostly Republican until they screwed everything up and betrayed their own philosophies...now I vote mostly Democratic (occasionally Libertarian)

Occupation: self-employed consultant (AKA Washington Cockroach) for the past 6 years, consultant for 5 years prior to that, economist for 5 years prior to that

Marital Status: Me and my woman of 15 years will be amicably parting ways at the end of the summer. The good news: she"™ll still let me hunt the 98 acres of land she owns right next to George Washington National Forest (no public access for 6 miles!)

About me:

Age: 52

Political Views: Generally conservative, but not an iron clad matter. I believe there are bonafide threats in the world and that it is prudent to remain alert and strong. I think everyone should carry their own weight when they are able and that everyone should be free to make their own choices but then accept the consequences of their choices. I do not object entirely to helping people down on their luck -- social safety net -- but the problem is it is so easy for human nature to become dependent on this safety net and live on the dole as an entitlement. If I were to support any particular social spending it would be more public money for university education to help those with limited means go to college. I think the increased income from these college educated individuals would more than return the investment. I'm very staunchly pro-second amendment and feel the low hanging fruit"common sense" gun control laws were harvested long, long ago . . . like maybe in the 1930's.

Occupation: Patent agent -- I write patent applications and reply to office actions in an intellectual property law firm. I spent 15 years as an engineer and found that this new profession is an improvement on engineering (less uncompensated overtime, less pressure cooker deadlines, less off-shoring risks).

Education: BA English, minor Philosophy 1981; BS Electrical Engineering 1995

Personal interests: Cooking, reading, hunting, backpacking

Family: Married once, still married, 21 years. 18 year old son leaving for Texas A&M University this fall; 16 year old daughter will be a junior this fall; 11 year old daughter will be a 6th grader this fall.

Location: Live in a suburb north of Dallas, Texas. Lived for 15 years in Oklahoma near Tulsa. Born and raised in Illinois, on a farm.

Personal Interests: Hunting and shooting sports; martial arts
