Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default What should be done about Iran?

Consider this: The Islamic Republic is the second-largest oil producing country in OPEC " with an output of 4 million barrels a day. And the head of OPEC warns that any military conflict involving Iran could result in an "unlimited" increase in oil prices. You think today"s record trading high of more than $147 a barrel was bad news? He says the other members of OPEC wouldn"t be able to make up for the lost production, and prices could head through the roof. Some experts are predicting prices of $250 per barrel or higher.

Meanwhile, Iran continues to go along with its nuclear program. In an attempt to showcase some of its military might, the Iranians test-fired a long-range missile Wednesday and several shorter-range missiles Wednesday and Thursday. A top Iranian military official has threatened to close down the straits of Hormuz if Iran is attacked; more than 17 million barrels of oil flow through the strait every day.

In light of Iran"s missile tests, the U.S. and Israel are flexing their muscles, too. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the U.S. will "defend our interests and defend our allies." And Israel, whom Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has vowed to destroy, is also chiming in. Defense Minister Ehud Barak says he favors sanctions and diplomatic pressure, but that Israel has proved in the past that it"s not afraid to act if its security is at risk.

Here"s my question to you: What should be done about Iran, considering how much influence it has over the world"s oil supply?

I say we make an unmistakable public response to their missile test. I say we photoshop our own version of their bogus missile firing picture with a multitude of patriot missiles intercepting and destroying their missiles and also with the towel-headed guys' faces rotated around towards the viewer with distressed expressions, eyebrows arched, mouths opened in gapping awe. If we had full body images of these guys, we could also photoshop in an image of them wetting their drawers. Then we distribute this image widely on the Internet. Some things are best dealt with by humor. Maybe reducing Amandine, Amadadonkeykong, or whatever the heck his name is to a laughing stock on the Internet is an answer?

BD, walking away could not only threaten democracy in the middle east, it coul lead to $12 at the pump in short order. Sometimes the school yard bully needs some teeth knocked out to end the problem. I think Israel should take care of this with our support, and if Iran even thinks about shooting at us, we make glass over there. After all, Iran hasbeen killing our troops in Iraq for some time already.

We should leave Iran alone, Israel should go easy also. As for gas prices going up, then we should force drilling in the 60+million acre's that these Oil Giants already have the rights to. The Republican party seems dead set on giving these giants access to other honey holes. They should drill in the land/water rights that we already gave them.

You are going by the assumption that oil is everywhere in the same quantity. In fact, it's not and that is why oil companies want the honey holes with more supply to make drilling more worthwhile.

Best laugh I have had in quite some time. Good going Alsatian. Your humor is top shelf. Can you imagine the laughter the world would have at those bozos? I can see the video now as the missle slowly rises from the pad a patriot decked out in red white and blue comes steaking in and blows the Iranian missle out of the sky. CNN could broadcast the slow mo shots of it all day. Oh on that same day the press release comes out that the USA found a shallowsweet oil deposit in the south west that has more oil than all the middle east combined. We say we can put it out to the world for $50 a barrel and still make money. Those stinky towel heads would be instantly broke and then they could rape and pillage one another without anyone caring.

Great post by Alsatian and a good response by CI. Thank you both.

The resolution for this problem is as old as mankind itself. The solution is to destroy that which stands in
the way of our survival. Nuking Teheran is a good start. Twelve bucks as the pump is not viable and our
economy would collapse in response. We cannot allow that, so we WOULD go to war with whomever
needed to be wiped out to alleviate the situation. The Russians, the Chinese, if they sided with Iran they'd be viable targets as well unless there was cooperation in 'carving up' the Iranian oil fields in which case we'd be good buddies and share that 4 million barrels of oil daily, according to some agreed-upon treaty. We carved up Berlin after WWII, so it's not such a big thing to TAKE Iran and EXPLOIT it's resources, sucking it dry and walking away when it's done. Iran intends to wreak havoc anyway, given the chance, so I feel there is no wrong way to deal with them. There will certainly be fewer deaths in total if we wack their nuke facilities now, rather than after they vaporize some poor undeserving schmucks who didn't see it coming and could not get out of the way when they did. This is not some 'look the other way' type of situation; it must be faced and dealt with. The only question is 'how severely do we deal with this' and the answer to that is 'we will be as severe as necessary to achieve the desired result'.

I think the surgical strikes are still a few year off. But one day, sooner or later, we'll have to engage them.

You seriously thought between those two sentences?

How high do you think it will go if you nuke tehran?
