Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Senate bows to Bush, approves surveillance bill

WASHINGTON - Bowing to President Bush's demands, the Senate approved and sent the White House a bill Wednesday to overhaul bitterly disputed rules on secret government eavesdropping and shield telecommunications companies from lawsuits complaining they helped the U.S. spy on Americans.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080710/ap_on_go_co/terrorist_surveillance

"This bill will help our intelligence professionals learn who the terrorists are talking to, what they're saying and what they're planning," he said in a brief White House appearance after the Senate vote.

The bill is very much a political compromise, brought about by a deadline: Wiretapping orders authorized last year will begin to expire in August. Without a new bill, the government would go back to old FISA rules, requiring multiple new orders and potential delays to continue those intercepts. That is something most of Congress did not want to see happen, particularly in an election year.

So let's hear how proud you are Dem's. Your Hold'em and Fold'em congress has once again bowed to that dummy Bush and once again did the right thing despite all your protests. Do they even listen to you or just know your blindly following them? Even your beloved messiah Barack Obama flip floped on the issue, backed down on his promise fillibuster and didn't even have the balls to "vote his belief" by voting no. Yeah, you all have leaders you can be proud of, NOT!

All part of their master strategy. The Dems know that if that bill didnt pass and a major terrorist attack occurs any time soon, then McCain will win the presidency by a landslide. They be crazy like a fox[8D]

It's not just that lanse. They ran on a platform and besides wasting our tax dollars on investigation after investigation with absolutely nothing to show for it, Bush has beaten them like a drum every single time. Polosi and Reid are a major embarassment to the Dems. I think you would be very hard pressed to find a more incompetant pair. The worst thing is, all they could get to lead their party now is someone with absolutely zero leaderships experience and he only has two years in the Senate. Heck, Obama couldn't and didn't lead when he was a state representative. His voting recorded shows that. That's pretty pitiful for a so called national party.

It passed the Senate 69-28.

I didn't know that many democrats could understand the importance trying to intercept calls from terrorists. I didn't know there were that many democrats that understood terrorist were a real threat.

After all the politicizing of this issue, common sense prevailed. Either that, or GW has powers we do not even know.

Senate bows to Bush

Nice attempt but it fell very short there phil. First this thread has to do with your leaders not Bush. However, let's see exactly what lie did Bush tell about Anwar? As far as the war goes, millions of dollars and multiple investigation have proven Bush didn't lie about Iraq so it looks like your digging a "DRY" hole there.

WMD is what he claim Saddam had as well as close ties with Bin Laden amd his group is exactly what he used as well as drones that carried chemical weapons. Most of the stuff they dug out of there was old mustard gas that we sold him...

When he was first elected he stated we would be drilling in Anwar to help get oil going.. I guess he didn't..
