The two countries haven"t gotten along for centuries I believe and now things seem to be changing. Most don"t know that powerful China has, in the past, been the weaker to it"s neighboring aggressors.
Funny thing, regardless of what you think of the bible it is a practical book often times just giving man a direction without saying why, history reveals the why"s as the consequences become evident.
One of the stories I remember is of a king who gets a friendly visit from a neighboring land. He"s very happy to show them all the things he has and the visit ends with the king feeling very good about the new relations between the 2 countries. until a wise man shows up.
The wise man asks "what did you show them?" the king says everything to which the wise man replies, "You fool, now they will return and take everything you have!" and they did..
Genghis Kahn often employed the same tactic. He too invade China and much of the region outside it.
Be good if the US would view this with some cautious optimisim.
As I recall it was the mainland rebels fleeing Mao into Taiwan that are the issue. I think it is great that they exchange flights, people and culture. Taiwan is a beautiful place. Go if you can afford. It sure beats shooting at each other again.
