Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Are democrats ok with Iran blocking strait of Hormuz?

Iran is threatening to block the strait of Hormuz if attacked, and we knowthere is a good chance Israel will attack even without our help. Will democrats be infuriated if we keep oil from doubling in price overnight bystopping Iran from blocking the strait of Hormuz? Is there a price per gallonthreshold ($10 per gallon? $15 per gallon?) that even democrats will agree it's ok for us to care enough about our citizens, protect our self interests and keep our economy from slumping intoa depression?

Our country can't afford to gaurd our border, much less the Strait of Hormuz. I just can't figure where this Republicanadministration plans for the cash to come. Hummm.. us no doubt.

I say, let the Iranians try to block the Straits of Hormuz and just blow their a$$ out of the water when they make the attempt. They can attempt to mine the Straits: blow their a$$ out of the water if they try it. They can attempt to interfere with oil tankers: blow their a$$ out of the water if they attempt that. It really isn't the same as invading and occupying a country. It is a principle of international waters that a nation -- such as Iran -- cannot mine those international waters or interfere with ships in lawful transit on those waters. As far as I'm concerned, we don't need a hall pass from the UN to enforce those principles. Is this expensive? Consider the expense of the alternative. Those little Iranian speed boats don't impress me one little bit. They are easily dealt with by stinger missles, hellfire missiles, or any other number of precision munitions. This is what air superiority provides and which the US has in this region. Don't kid yourself to the contrary. Again, the difficulty is invading and occupying a hostile country: different deal detecting and interdicting boats on international water, especially a delimited body of water. Or that's what I think, anyway.

Or we could NOT do anything because if we did, "it would be all about oil." That way, we cangive all our grandchildren's wages at the gas pumps!

I agree with you, Alsatian. I think it's about time we act only in this country's self interest just like every other country on the face of this planet!
