Iraqi Officials: Hezbollah, Iran Training Shiites in Art of Terrorism
BAGHDAD"” Hezbollah instructors trained Shiite militiamen at remote camps in southern Iraq until three months ago when they slipped across the border to Iran "” presumably to continue instruction on Iranian soil, according to two Shiite lawmakers and a top army officer.[/b]
The three Iraqis claim the Lebanese Shiites were also involved in planning some of the most brazen attacks against U.S.-led forces, including the January 2007 raid on a provincial government compound in Karbala in which five Americans died.

And this is news because...? Iran was branded a state sponsored terrorism nation decades ago, proving that they've sponsred attacks against us is a slippery business though, they cover their tracks well.

I hear ya Kev, I am curious as to the timing of this bit of old news. It's either being used to reinforce some sort of up coming action or just a reminder that the trouble in Lebanon has links to Iran.
RE: Iraqi Officials: Hezbollah, Iran Training Shiites in Art of Terrorism
I'd bet that Syria, another charter member of the state sponsored terrorism nations, trains just as many would be wild eyed bombers as Iran, but we really have no ax to grind with them, now do we?

RE: Iraqi Officials: Hezbollah, Iran Training Shiites in Art of Terrorism
The U.S. Navy and its Gulf allies will not allow Iran to seal off the strategic Strait of Hormuz if the country is attacked, the commander of U.S. naval forces in the Gulf said Wednesday.[/b]
The warning comes as Iran's oil minister vows that any attack on his country by the United States or Israel would provoke an unimaginably fierce response.
The announcement by Vice Adm. Kevin Cosgriff, commander of the 5th Fleet, came as he was holding talks with naval commanders of Gulf countries at a conference in the United Arab Emirates capital of Abu Dhabi. The one-day meeting was to focus on the region's maritime and trade-route security and the threat of terrorism.
The 5th Fleet is based in Bahrain, across the Gulf from Iran. Cosgriff said that if Iran choked off the Strait of Hormuz, it would be "saying to the world that 40 percent of oil is now held hostage by a single country."
"We will not allow Iran to close it," he told reporters.
.....I think a confrontation with Iran is next up on the agenda.
