Default Hunting Rights???

I'm not sure where this goes, but I'll try it here first. As bowhunters, how do you feel about gun rights? Most of us hunt with muzzleloaders, shotguns, and/or rifles in addition to bows/crossbows. Many of us carry concealed weapons permitts. The recent Supreme Court decision on the DC gun ban that upheld our second ammendment rights, scared the living bajesus out of me. 5-4! One vote! WOW! As hunters, can anyone give me a reason why they would vote for Obama? Perhaps other things take precedence in your life. I can appreciate that. Not that I would agree with it. Just curious. Are therebowhunters that favor the Democratic Party and the liberal ideals of Obama? Why? I'd like to know your reasoning. I'm on the McCain bandwagon for no other reason than to defeat Obama. I know this is political crap, but I think this election is a defining moment in the future of America. One vote from gun restrictions and bans on lawful gunowners.

I don't really like Mccain but I sure in the heyall aint' voting for Obama. I will vote for Mccain. I was hoping for huckebee. MAybe Mccain will pick him as his running mate. The new gun ban ruling was close. I don't understand why people think that putting a ban on guns is going to keep them out of the hands of criminals. When in all reality all it does it hurts the law abiding gun owning citizens. Criminals will have guns no matter if there is a ban on them or not that is why they are criminals because the will break the law to get what they want. JMO

The Federal ruling in DC does scare me a little bit (how close it was). IF it ever gets passed in my state I believe it would not be enforced. It would turn into one of the laws like spitting on a sidewalk on a tuesday afternoon. I know too many troopers, detectives, and local deputies that hunt, own firearms (other than standard issued), and get a thrill about going to gun shows.

Im a Republican, so Im voting for whoever is in that position. Its not about color or sex of whoever is the Commander in Chief, its about how big and solid their testicles are to deal with the middle east. Our main concern is to get the economy straightened out, and I dont give a damn who does it as long as they can fix our military issues and foreign policy. As long as these issues are fixed and resolved...the rest will fall into place. I wouldnt want to see a mouse like Obama go up against the Taliban or Al Queda. Iran is next to feeling froggy and jumping. Obama has no clue how to deal with these turd heads.

Obama scares the living h--- out of me. Living close to Chicago I am all to familiar with Gun bans. many employees at my company are from the inner city and the South Side and I hear of repeated violence. Chicago has had endless shootings and Gang Violence that has reached epic proportions yet I can't carry a gun to protect myself because I might shoot someone???

I could live without my guns because I primarily Bowhunt; however the second amendment allows me and guarantees me the right to bear arms. The Democratic party has no plans to protect this right which was set up by our founding fathers. Instead they try to find reasons why the wording no longer applies and they try to take it away, Chicago is a prime example. In Chicago they have taken away guns yet the violent crime spirals out of control.

Obama talks a great deal about change but what is his action plan for change and what is he really going to change? Talk is cheap, don't be fooled by talk of change as this man has no passion for the second amendment rights or our hunting rights. Rezko, Dailey and Blagojevich are his homies, nuff said!!

I don't like either! But I will vote for one. Sorta amazing that only two people in the whole nation get a chance at president. I think we need more partys across the nation. I fear Obama, do to his ideas on taxes. And Mccain never seems to vote the same way twice. I think were headed in the wrong direction with both guys....but in the end I will vote for Mccain...hopefully he will be less of a bad choice than the other.

I'm probably one of the only bona-fide anti-gun hunters that you'll ever find.

I'm a former NRA member and 2ndAmendment rights advocate, but things I've seen and learned over the past ten years have driven me to a complete about-face. Now, I'm110% dyed-in-the-wool gun control advocate.

I have about 10 guns, ranging from military-grade sniper rifles to special-purpose turkey guns... I just have them and use them because I can. Not because I'm some kind of gun-toting lunatic or have a fixation for firepower.

Honestly, if they banned all firearms hunting seasons and stopped selling handguns altogether, I'd be the happiest guy in America. I enjoy gun season, but I'd trade it in a heartbeat for a complete gun ban and the great bowhunting that would come with it.

If gun season was eliminated in Pennsylvania, the overall quality of deer hunting would increaseexponentially within 3 years. And my quality of life would go up ten-fold. I'd be bowhunting for booners instead of 105" dinks.

As far as the election goes - I'm basically a single-issue voter (conservation/environmental), so there never has been, and probably never will be, a set of circumstances where I'll vote republican.

Flawed logic, quicksilver. If they eliminated gun hunting, the deer population would explode. Bowhunting couldn't control the numbers. Your bowhunting might pick up for a few years but go beyond that and it would be in the dumper. Rack size would go to pot because of malnutrition and there would eventually be massive die-offs due to starvation and disease. That's something I'd only wish on mosquitoes, ticks, fleas, fire ants and cock roaches. Certainly not deer.

I'm leaning Obama this time. Since McCain got the nomination, he's turned on too many issues where I had thought he was right. Instead of the loveable renegade, now it looks to me like he's just another Washington political prostitute. They both scare the crap out of me but, with the 2nd Amendment precedent now set and in place, at this point Obama scares me less than McCain does.

Oh, and by the way. Some of the things Obama is talking about doing are exactly what had me interested in McCain in the first place. I like his energy policy better. The topper for me is, as a retiree, I'm certainly NOT in favor of the Republican idea of privatizing Social Security.

THE most influential decisions a US President makes is the appointment of federal judges.

Like Fran....I am a single issue voter.....and the thought of who each of these gentlemen might appoint to these positions will dictate my vote. Im getting tired of the US Constitution being interpreted as a "living, breathing document"....AND the practice of US appointed judges legislating from the bench.

Our forefathers would roll over in their graves if they knew this was occurring. Sadly, though....it IS.
