He's not the only one who has made this same assertion. It may not be PC to say so but it is indeed a true but morbid statement.

Hillary said nearly the exact same thing a while back, but it was only a small flap then b/c of the liberal media.

McCain immediately repudiated the statement. He wasn't being "mentored" by the guy for 20 years...

The statement is also simply an observation. It's not a hope that it actually happens. Anyone with half a brain knows that, if an attack were to happen, McCain would get a boost, because Obama is a limp wristed weasel who would rather appease the terrorists than confront them head on.
