Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default A Floods Question

OK, there was a lot less looting during the flood cleanup this time in Iowa than in 1993 (like there was looting in KS after that tornado last year), but I have a different question.

Now those folks in IA and IL have had two 100 year floods in 15 years! If Pastor Hagee blamed Hurricane Katrina on the licentiousness of New Orleans, what does he think causes the Iowa floods? Hogs or corn? Maybe the long bike ride, RAGBRI?[/align]

Bush
Yea... I think they have already determined that. That Bush fellow sure is one little devil. He lit a stick of dynamite under the levies in New Orleans, he poisoned some tomatoes, and now this.

Man o Man

Bush didn't cause the flood, but you can bet he won't help out in the disaster. He is too busy spending your money on his pet projects.

Why should the US pay for repairing flood damages? My own view is you buy insurance or you take your own financial risks. If the flood insurance is too high to be affordable, there is a message in that to the intelligent, responsible person. I've heard people say they didn't get flood insurance because they were in the "500 year flood plane" and so didn't expect to get flooded. To me I hear that and think, well, if you are in the 500 year flood plane, your flood insurance should be reasonably priced, why not get the insurance? Saving money by not buying flood insurance when located in a 500 year flood plane sounds like pretty stupid thinking to me, and I don't know why I should have to subsidize this person's stupidity.

Government loans to repair flood damages, appropriately collateralized (deeds to land), may be another story. Not cash give aways.

My thinking above definitely extends to hurricane damages also. Ifyou want to live on the seaside, that is your business, but your risks are your own.

I agree totally with what your saying. The thing with bush is his concern with dissasters, wich strike everywhere at times. The common dignity to the people for basic needs and support is what Bush is lacking in. If someone wants to live in a flood plane then that should be on them. Its alittle more of a made disaster than say a tornado devastating a midwest town. Americans expect more of a pres. than him just saying Fema or red crosses problem.
