Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default Food for economic thought about the world we live in.

This is a long read. I've read it and it's good enough for me to re-read it at least once more.

I like the guys approach and think he's done a good job at research. He may not be telling all there is to know on the subject but what he does have to say, I've never heard before. I'm sure I'll have a use for this although what use that will be is yet to be seen.

Let me spice it up a bit. It's about Nixon, Kissinger and the CIA, There involvement in the country of Chile. Schools of thought concerning economics involving Freedman along with just the right amount of history some very foundational. Ever wonder how something stated?

It reads like an Oliver North novel, but this one is supposed to be true. Deep stuff. It's illuminating!

NoDOg, Agua under the bridge. A few questions. How long ago did that happenand does time and Govtphilosophies stay the same? How has Chile been doing recently ? I know my Fidelity Latin American fund has been doing great the last few years, must mean Chile is doing allright.

The dates are mentioned and "aqua under the bridge" if I'm reading you right is one of the very reasons I believe the country is in the shape it's in, the lack of people to put on the eyes glasses called history to see into the future. I gaurentee you politicians use them all the time, but not for the countries benifit although they juistify it that way.

"Time and Government philosophies stay the same?"

Time is always changing. Government never changes, philisosphycally speaking.

If you'd have read the article your fund doing well is irrelevant, ormay even indicate the problem (?) still exists. As far as how Chile is doing now, I have no idea. How's it doing in relation to what this guys claims are? I haven't yet (things take time, often years to pan out and I just read this) checked the validity of this guys claims out. They are however far and above most of the usual drool on the subject.

Oh yes ourCIA's modus operandi changed since those times and Nixon left office and has since died so yes there were changes. We were also reacting to attempts by the Cubans,Ruskies to influence South America. I didn't hear you mention the SAndinistas or Shining Path guerillas, Che Guevara, mysteriously . That read by the way is that mans opinion and not the gospel truth at best it may be 1/2 true. Latin America is doing rather well these days economically even though some out and out socialists and communists have been voted in Argentina,Peru and even though they have some of the most corrupt governments on the face of this earth.

How the heck do you know what the CIA is doing? If you did I doubt you'd be here.

I only mentioned the article and agree it's the mans O. It is however very well written and reminds me of the articles written on both sides of our civil war.

I thought his O in the section on "Neoliberalism..." was put together well. I would point you to the difference between yours "aqua under the bridge" and his use of history. You would do well to adopt his style in that regard at least.
