Asked about it he said it would take 5 years to effect change and that is too long. I wonder if he knows how long ethanol,hydrogen cars solar,wind power, mass transit improvements would take to put in line so we could avoid foreign oil? .I would like to see his energy plan other than tax windfall profits and so far that is the only thing he has repeated. Not that it matters though because I would rather be put in a Taliban prison and be identified as a Christian then vote for this clown. The sheep will vote for him though

When I was in college, I got a summer job working for J.Ray McDermott on one of their pipe-laying vessels off the Louisiana coast. The oil companies would send out "inspectors", especially when we were doing the risers at the platforms. They always brought their fishing gear, and pulled in a lot of nice fish. The platforms are like artificial reefs. You could see the barracuda and other fish swimming around them.
There is a lot of fish desert off the florida coast and this new "structure" will provide many GPS coordinates. I watch some video on those lousiana oil rigs and yes that is a fishing oasis and I wish I lived closer to that stuff.

Yep. Unfortunately, there really wasn't time to do any fishing, as we worked 12 hour shifts 7 days a week, and, I don't think there was much space for crew members to bring their fishing tackle out on the helicopters, even if we wanted to...
Interesting that these things are called "environmental disasters waiting to happen", yet provide great habitat for the fish and great fishing for sportsmen...

They didn't have any problems with them during Katrina other then some that floated away temporarily. I didn't hear of any major or minor spillage for that matter. Fear is the tactic used by these envirowackjobs.

An environmental disaster will be when we get shut out of the oil pipeline and run out or don't have enough to sustain our needs. It is way past time to do all we can to become energy self sufficient. Time to open some nuke plants, drill off shore and in ANWR and build all the solar and wind generation plants we can. The sight of a wind generation farm on the horizon will be a welcome sight when the lights go out.
