Iraq PM: Security deal talks at 'dead end'

The Iraqi parliment has reached an impasse on the long term US-Iraqi security talks. One problem is that Iraq wants the US to protect that country from invasions. This would be a big can or worms for the US: Turkey and Iran invade Kurd territory about every week in response to attacks on those countries by the Kurds.

Let the Iraqis protect themselves.

Given their history, the Kurds should be thankful for the position they are now in. If they can't stop their own people from attacking the Turks, then the results will just have to fall under the "sink" alternative of the "sink or swim" scenario.
