Some people just don't get it......

Good for the republicans for blocking this bill....but that's not what really gets me. If you look about halfway down into the story it talks about what the taxes would be used for (getting rid of the oil company tax breaks included)......and that it would be used to promote wind, solar, etc........don't these people understand that we need research into liquid energies for transportation. Our biggest problem right now is from transportation fuels, which something like 95% of the oil we use is used for, and they keep spouting this crap about electricity generation. I mean get with the picture, investing in new electricity choices isn't going to help with our oil situation. Now the fact that there were incintives in the bill to increase refinery capacity is good (although not by making it through a windfall tax), but I think the incintives should be pointed at getting new players into the market instead of the same big players just making their refineries bigger. What really gets me though is that the government will spend all of this money for stupid projects, but when it comes to spending money on infastructure, which is actually their job, they won't do it (I consider energy generation/distribution, etc. infastructure). Evidently most of these people have never taken an economics course.........spend money on fixing roads, what happens when you do this, contractors/states hire people to work on these roads....who are the most likely to be laborers on construction crews? The people who need jobs because they don't have the education, etc. Also, whats one thing that is almost everywhere you go? Roads, so it can be far reaching into areas that aren't having a lot of industry right now..........but that would make too much sense.
sorry, I've had a bug up my rear lately
