I think Paul is the healthiest thing to happen to the Republican party in a long, long time. Even if he doesnt stand a chance, getting the attention he is can only help to get the GOP back to their conservative roots. Mainstream America has had enough of the party as run by the bible thumpers andneocons IMO.

Just not going to happen. He might was well be preaching to the communist Chinese.

When you can pull 5% and 10% in presidential primaries, even when you are obviously non-viable, I think you've got a message worth hearing-out, and a segment of the party who is unsatisfied.

People have heard his message already. They think he's a nut for it, and their view of his supporters is even worse.
He's clinging to a dream for himself, not the GOP...
I have to disagree with the claim that Paul is a nut. Unorthodox, definitely, but his principals of pushing forsmall government and protecting civil liberties are nothing to be ashamed of.
The fact that a good number of republicans brush him off as a nut scares the heck out of me. Bloated government and draconian civil lawis nothing to strive for or be happy about.
He was down from #1 within a couple weeks. As we all know, his supporters making a lot of noise in unison, but their small numbersexhaust themselves pretty quickly.

Do they think he's a nut for the message? Or is it because of his style of delivery, his mannerisms, and the fact that he looks/acts/sounds like someone who produces about 1/10th the testosterone of, say, Hillary Clinton (and the lunacy of some of his fans)? Frankly, there's a significant amount of his "message" that is pretty solid.

LOL
I think it's alittle of both. He's a Libertarian masquerading as a Republican. Even today, even with up-and-coming generation, Libertarianism is stigmatized by mainstream American voters. Even if it makes sense on paper, people just don't trust it to work.
