Article about pro-Islam textbooks in Maryland schools.
|
You won't find pro-Christian textbooks inSaudi schools. Possession ofa Bible is cause forflogging.

From what I can tell they are not learning from the koran, it is a textbook. Also accirding to the article is seems to be more likea history class teaching Islam.I dont think they are trying to convert our children to Islam.
If they are the new enemy of the state it might not be a bad idea to teach and learn out children on the subject. Better they hear it from a controled enviroment like school, rather than some islamic fanatic out side the airport or something.

The problem is that it's propaganda. It doesn't describe what Islam is really all about and what it might be like to live under Islam. Some countries, like Turkey, are pretty much non-sectarian, but even there, the fundamentalists are not happy.
To be fair of course, wemight be in similar straits if Christian fundamentalists were in control here. But, unlike nations in the Middle East, they're not. And they're not likely to take control here either.
I think if they are going to teach about Islam in middle school, it should be a balanced view of contemporary Islam, not a sanitized presentation.
