Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default D-Day, June 6th, 1944

Today is the 64th anniversary of D-Day; the invasion of France. Had the pleasure of knowing dozens of troops who landed on Omaha Beach, Utah Beach and Juno Beach. My first cousin died at St. Mere Eglise on D-Day.

To The Greatest Generation.

Yeah but do you really miss the times she had to bonk you on the head and told you to straighten up?

There was quite an interesting program on the History ch last night about the landing at Omaha beach. The courage those young men showed should always be remembered. I don't believe if it is even possible to understand the hell they walked through as they stormed the beach. My prayers still go out to all of them and their families for their sacrafice.

Here's to the greatest generation.

My Dad is one of them. Didn't see any action in Normandy. He was a sailor in the pacific fleet. His Aircraft Carrier (USS Franklin) was bombed in the Sea Of ***an. He had to jump without a life jacket from the flight deck. Still the most honest ond honerable man I know.

My Great-Uncle died a few days after D-Day of pneumonia. It's messed up being that he survived the combat portion, died of being sick.

My father ran gas in the Red Ball Express for those Allied tanks. My uncle was in the merchant marines and was torpedoed in the Atlanticoff the coast of the Panama canal. He abandoned ship, leaving his wallet with all his money in his other pair of pants. Neither one of my relatives talked about their experiences much.

I'm glad my uncle happens to be still among us.
