Politics Nothing goes with politics quite like crying and complaining, and we're a perfect example of that.

Default OPEC

You think they might be working with Al Qaeda to keep the barrel price high and attack us in the pocket book and our dollar instead of militarily?

On the other hand, if they wanted to do this, why would they need to work with al queda?

Not really. OPEC is in general a money-hungry machine that is going to try and screw us no matter what. And I don't think it's so much that we're the U.S. as it is their greed.

But if your scenario was a reality, they have picked a good time to do it, since in 2007 our imports of oil from OPEC nations jumped 12% to over 5 million barrels a day . . . the most we've imported from OPEC at any point since 1977.

not al quaeda as much as their main group of constituents are middle eastern - and we've stirred the hornets nest by invading and occupying Iraq - they're smiling because (A) they're making billions and (B) we're on our knees in this country

Oh no BD, oil has hit $122/barrel. Them bastards. How dare they lower their price. Oh wait a minute, could this possibly be the drop in price due to drop in demand or is Exxon teasing us before the weekend?

No the price should be 122/barrel last I checked the market.[:-]

This reminds me of one of our world wide sales meetings (boondoggle) one year. We had a major exec from a phone company addressing us sales folks on the way he looks at his biz, the industry and growth. One of the sales guys asked the question, do you think our stock price should be higher today based on all that information? His reply, it's whatever the market says it is today.

It's been over a week now since we started seeing a decrease in oil costs. And the price at the pump has actually gone up. When oil costs rise, the price at the pump goes up almost overnight. The oil companies have us by the short hairs, and instances such as this make Fieldmouse's logic seem all the more shallow.

No not at all. Go back and read some previous posts. There is still oil in the system that hasn't shown up at the pump. I posted that several weeks ago. Hence you will still see the delay of prices dropping at the pump. That increase in price was predidcted to hit later this month.
